The rock paintings of several thousand years ago are present in the Chaturbhuj Nala located in the middle of the Gandisagar Sanctuary and this gallery is spread over an area of about 5 km. These ancient human marks present in the midst of natural beauty reflect the antiquity and grandeur of this sanctuary in itself. .
I would like to tell a little bit about the sculpture
Rock sculpture (picture) This is a prehistoric concept. This craft has been made by digging in the stones. The reason for making this picture is difficult to trace from history. Animals, birds, incomprehensible shapes are visible in these pictures. These pictures are known by the names of Rock Art and Petroglyphs.
Painting and drawing are the oldest arts of mankind. Early humans used cave walls as canvas. He may also have drawn and painted to depict his surroundings or to record scenes of important events in his life. His attempt to depict his history on the rocks of the caves was probably similar to how we write our daily diaries.
Scientists believe that Stone Age man (the time when man used stone weapons) lived in caves and used these rock shelters to protect himself from rain, lightning, cold and scorching heat . They also believe and have found evidence to prove that these cave dwellers were tall, strong and able to deal with natural hazards as well as live their lives among herds of giant wild rhinos, dinosaurs or wild boars. He had better brains than many savages to keep running. While hunting reindeer, wild horse, bull or buffalo, sometimes he used to become the prey of bears, lions and other wild animals living nearby.
Yes, these early humans had time to draw and paint some great pictures. The walls of many caves around the world are filled with intricately engraved and painted pictures of the animals that the cave dwellers used to hunt. These people also made pictures of human figures, other human activities, geometric designs and symbols.
Primitive man has left many traces of his art on the rock, which are present in the form of figures drawn from raw coal or made from a stone called hematite or made from colors extracted from plants, or engraved on stone. Pictures made with raw charcoal or colors are called pictographs, while abraded pictures (ancient man was clever in the sense that he used to draw the outline of the figures and erase from the pictograph with another stone, so that They can raise figures on the stone used as a background for paintings) (petroglyphs) are called petroglyphs.
