as formed on January 1, 2002 after the Partition of Midnapore into Paschim Medinipur and Purba Medinipur. The district has 4 sub-divisions: Kharagpur, Medinipur Sadar, Ghatal and Jhargram. Midnapore is the district headquarter. Other important towns and cities are in the district include: Kharagpur, Jhargram, Ghatal, Belda, Chandrakona, Garbeta, Balichak, Dantan, Mohanpur, Gopiballavpur, Nayagram, Keshiari, Keshpur, Narayangarh, Sabang, Daspur. Paschim Medinipur - Historical and Cultural hub of West Bengal, Birth place of enormous freedom fighters, pioneer in renaissance in Cultural, Social and Educational field. Medini means the 'Earth'. It is situated at the side of river Kansaboti River. It is very beautiful place for living and traveling.......
