GREEN FORGE – Shaping the Crops of Tomorrow 🌱

A new milestone in advanced agricultural research at BRIC-NABI, Mohali with the inauguration of GREEN FORGE, bringing together controlled-environment technologies, biotechnology and advanced research approaches for next-generation agricultural solutions.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, inaugurated GREEN FORGE in the presence of Prof. Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary, DBT, Director General, BRIC and Chairman, BIRAC, and Prof. Ashwani Pareek, Executive Director, BRIC-NABI, along with Dr. Sangita M. Kasture, Head, Biomanufacturing Directorate, DBT, and Dr. Dhananjay K. Tiwari, Managing Director, BIRAC.

Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the potential of GREEN FORGE to recreate controlled conditions of light, humidity and temperature, opening new possibilities for advanced agricultural research.

With GREEN FORGE, BRIC-NABI further strengthens its research ecosystem and its commitment to developing innovative, sustainable and future-ready solutions for agriculture.

Celebrating 2 Years of BioE3 at BRIC-NABI 🧬🌱

BRIC-NABI, Mohali hosted the National Conclave on “BioE3: Enabling Scales for Industry-Ready Biomanufacturing”, marking two years of the BioE3 Policy and bringing together key stakeholders from science, academia, industry and policy.

The Conclave was graced by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, and Prof. Rajesh S. Gokhale, Secretary, DBT, Director General, BRIC and Chairman, BIRAC, in the esteemed presence of Prof. Ashwani Pareek, Executive Director, BRIC-NABI; Dr. Sangita M. Kasture, Head, Biomanufacturing Directorate, DBT; and Dr. Dhananjay K. Tiwari, Managing Director, BIRAC.

Speaking on “BioE3: Bigger, Bolder and Boundless”, Prof. Gokhale highlighted the convergence of biotechnology with automation, robotics, sensors and advanced manufacturing.

Dr. Jitendra Singh congratulated BRIC-NABI and expressed confidence that the Institute would emerge as a torchbearer of India’s biomanufacturing revolution.

The Conclave also witnessed MoUs with various industries to strengthen partnerships and accelerate the scale-up of BioE3-aligned innovations.

Inaugurated the BRIC-NABI GREEN FORGE Facility for Research on Genome and Trait Engineering at the National Agri-Food and Biomanufacturing Institute, .

The state-of-the-art facility will further strengthen research in genome engineering, trait improvement and advanced agricultural biotechnology, helping translate cutting-edge scientific discoveries into solutions for sustainable agriculture and food security.

A significant step towards advancing India’s capabilities in genome engineering and agri-food biomanufacturing.
