The Department of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, proudly participated in the Workshop on Non-Financial Regulatory Reforms (NFRR) in the Tourism Sector. The event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, on 30th June 2026 at Hotel Ashoka, New Delhi.

Under the visionary leadership of Shri Sanjay J. Khandare (IAS), Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Tourism, Shri Neelesh R. Gatne (IAS), Managing Director, MTDC, Shri Mangesh Joshi, IAS, Director, Directorate of Tourism, Shri Vijay Powar, In-Charge Managing Director, Department of Tourism, and Shri Santosh Rokade, Deputy Secretary, Shri Chandrashekhar Jaiswal, General Manager, MTDC, participated with insightful deliberations in the panel discussion. The discussions focused on regulatory reforms to enhance the ease of doing business, driving outcome review exercises, strengthening the tourism ecosystem, and driving sustainable growth across the sector.

महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या पर्यटन विभागाने पर्यटन क्षेत्रातील 'नॉन-फायनान्शियल रेग्युलेटरी रिफॉर्म्स' (NFRR) या विषयावरील कार्यशाळेत अभिमानास्पद सहभाग नोंदवला. भारत सरकारच्या पर्यटन मंत्रालयाद्वारे ३० जून २०२६ रोजी हॉटेल अशोका, नवी दिल्ली येथे या कार्यक्रमाचे आयोजन करण्यात आले होते.

पर्यटन विभागाचे अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव श्री. संजय जे. खंदारे (IAS), एमटीडीसीचे (MTDC) व्यवस्थापकीय संचालक श्री. निलेश र. गटणे (IAS), पर्यटन संचालनालयाचे संचालक श्री. मंगेश जोशी (IAS), पर्यटन विभागाचे प्रभारी व्यवस्थापकीय संचालक श्री. विजय पोवार आणि श्री. संतोष रोकडे, उपसचिव महाराष्ट्र पर्यटन विभाग यांच्या दूरदर्शी नेतृत्वाखाली; एमटीडीसीचे (MTDC) सरव्यवस्थापक श्री. चंद्रशेखर जैस्वाल यांनी पॅनल चर्चेत (तज्ज्ञ समितीच्या चर्चेत) अभ्यासपूर्ण विचार मांडले. या चर्चेत व्यवसाय सुलभता (Ease of Doing Business) वाढवण्यासाठी नियामक सुधारणा, परिणाम आढावा उपक्रम (Outcome Review Exercises) राबवणे, पर्यटन परिसंस्था मजबूत करणे आणि संपूर्ण क्षेत्रात शाश्वत विकासाला चालना देणे यावर मुख्य भर देण्यात आला.

महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या पर्यटन विभागाला १५ जून २०२६ रोजी गोवा येथे आयोजित इंडिया टुडे समिटमध्ये दोन प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कारांनी गौरविण्यात आले.

✨ जागतिक ख्यातीप्राप्त अजिंठा व वेरूळ लेणी यांना वाचकांची पसंती – सर्वोत्तम वारसा पर्यटन स्थळ (Readers’ Choice Award – Best Heritage Destination) पुरस्कार

✨ नाशिक सीनिक रूट ला सर्वोत्कृष्ट निसर्गरम्य पर्यटन मार्ग (Best Scenic Route Award)

हे पुरस्कार केंद्रीय पर्यटन मंत्री मा. श्री. गजेंद्रसिंह शेखावत आणि गोव्याचे मा. मुख्यमंत्री डॉ. प्रमोद सावंत यांच्या हस्ते प्रदान करण्यात आले.

महाराष्ट्र पर्यटनाच्या वतीने महाराष्ट्र पर्यटन विकास महामंडळाचे महाव्यवस्थापक श्री. चंद्रशेखर जैस्वाल तसेच पर्यटन संचालनालयाचे सहसंचालक श्री. संतोष जाधव यांनी हे पुरस्कार स्वीकारले.

या प्रसंगी इंडिया टुडे समूहाचे मुख्य संपादक पद्मभूषण अरुण पुरी तसेच ज्येष्ठ स्तंभलेखक राज चेंगप्पा उपस्थित होते.

हे सन्मान महाराष्ट्राच्या समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक वारसा, निसर्गरम्य पर्यटन स्थळे आणि वैविध्यपूर्ण पर्यटन अनुभवांच्या बळावर देशातील अग्रगण्य पर्यटन गंतव्यस्थान म्हणून असलेल्या स्थानाला अधिक दृढ करणारे आहेत.

Two Prestigious Awards for Maharashtra Tourism 🏆

Department of Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, has been honoured with two prestigious awards at the India Today Summit held in Goa on 15 June 2026.

✨ Readers’ Choice Award – Best Heritage Destination for the world-renowned Ajanta & Ellora Caves

✨ Best Scenic Route Award for the Nashik Scenic Route

The awards were presented by Hon’ble Union Minister for Tourism, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant.

The awards were received on behalf of Maharashtra Tourism by Shri Chandrashekhar Jaiswal, General Manager, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation, and Shri Santosh Jadhav, Joint Director, Directorate of Tourism.

The occasion was graced by Padma Bhushan Aroon Purie, Editor-in-Chief, India Today Group, and noted columnist Raj Chengappa.

These recognitions reaffirm Maharashtra’s position as a leading tourism destination, celebrated for its rich heritage, scenic landscapes, and diverse travel experiences.

A meeting was convened by the Hon'ble Collector, Mumbai City, Smt. Anchal Goyal, IAS, with representatives of various stakeholder institutions to discuss the development of heritage walks and experiential tourism activities within their respective institutions under the Mumbai Tourism Initiative. The initiative is a joint effort of the Collectorate of Mumbai City and the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC).

During the meeting, Smt. Manasi Kothare, Head – Business Development, MTDC, presented the proposed roadmap of the initiative. Stakeholder institutions were encouraged to collaborate in opening their heritage buildings, campuses and culturally significant premises for curated visitor experiences, guided tours and heritage walks.

The initiative received an encouraging response from all participating institutions. The stakeholders expressed their willingness to extend full support towards the development and promotion of heritage walks, guided tours and experiential tourism offerings. The participants also acknowledged the initiative's potential to showcase Mumbai's rich historical, cultural and architectural heritage while fostering greater public engagement with the city's landmark institutions and heritage sites.

Stakeholders of New 'Mumbai tourism Experiences' with

MTDC organised the 'Mumbai Tourism Experiences' Stakeholders Meet to create a unified, structured and globally visible tourism ecosystem for Mumbai.

The initiative aims to position Mumbai as a vibrant experiential tourism destination by bringing together tour operators, tourism stakeholders, institutions, cultural organisations, experts and local communities under a unified tourism platform. Tour operators were also encouraged to get empanelled with MTDC to curate and develop immersive tourism experiences across the city.

The meeting was organised under the leadership of Hon’ble Managing Director, MTDC, Shri Neelesh R. Gatne, IAS, and under the guidance of General Manager, MTDC, Shri Chandrashekhar Jaiswal. Ms. Manasi Kothare, HoD – Business Development, presented the vision, agenda and way forward for the initiative.

Representatives from key tourism associations and organisations including IATO, ATOAI, ADTOI, TAFI, MTOA, Thomas Cook, Elysium Travels, Khaki Tours, Naturalist Explorers, Mischief Treks and several other stakeholders participated in the meeting and extended strong support towards the initiative.

From heritage walks and eco trails to cultural, spiritual and community-led experiences, the initiative envisions professionally managed, sustainable and immersive tourism experiences that showcase Mumbai beyond its conventional landmarks.
