On 15 May 2026, the Consul General participated in a briefing session on the New Incentives Framework organised by MIDA Mumbai at the office of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in Ghansoli, Navi Mumbai.

The programme was organised to provide insights into the transition of Malaysia’s investment incentive landscape towards a tiered and outcome-based model that is comprehensive and adaptable to changes in the economy and business ecosystem.

During the meeting, RIL took the opportunity to discuss various issues concerning Recron Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. and RP Chemicals (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

The meeting was attended by Datuk Anil Rajvanshi, President of RIL, together with other senior officials of RIL. Representatives from MATRADE Mumbai and TM Mumbai were also present.

🎬 Lights, Camera, Action! Salam Mumbai: Mini Film Festival 2026 🇲🇾🇮🇳

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai in partnership with National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and Indian Chamber of International Business (ICIB) successfully wrapped up the Salam Mumbai: Mini Film Festival, held from 4th to 6th May 2026. This vibrant three-day event was dedicated to showcasing the heart of Malaysian cinema and strengthening creative ties between Malaysia and India’s powerhouse film industry.

🎥 Cinematic Highlights at NGMA
The National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) Mumbai served as the perfect backdrop for our featured screenings:
• 4th May: The festival opened with the moving film Babah, directed by Mohd Shah Faizul.
• 5th May: Audiences enjoyed the heartwarming Malaysian classic The Journey, directed by Chiu Keng Guan.

🧠 Creative Exchange & Masterclass

Beyond the silver screen, the festival fostered talent and technical skill. On 5th May, we were honored to host a Masterclass by Mr. Dhimant Vyas, a world-renowned animation expert, who shared invaluable insights with aspiring creators and industry professionals.

💼 Exploring Collaboration: FIMI & PUSPAL

The final day focused on the business of film. On 6th May at the Mirage Hotel Mumbai International Airport:

• Mr. Zokifli Abu Bakar, Head of Film in Malaysia Office (FIMO), conducted an in-depth online briefing on the Film in Malaysia Incentive (FIMI), highlighting the attractive benefits for Indian production houses filming in Malaysia.
• Eden Eminent Entertainment joined virtually to provide a step-by-step presentation on navigating the PUSPAL workflow for filming approvals.

The objective was clear: to position Malaysia as a premier filming destination and a collaborative partner for India's creative industry. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the magic of movies!

The Consulate General of Malaysia in Mumbai co-organized a business seminar on 8 April 2026, in collaboration with MIDA Mumbai, MATRADE Mumbai, and the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), at Badri Mahal—the administrative headquarters of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Mumbai.

The session served as a platform for information-sharing on Muslim-friendly tourism, as well as trade and investment opportunities in Malaysia.

Mr. Mohammad Faisal, Director-General of ITC, joined the seminar virtually, while Mr. Shazri Hidayat Abd Shukor, Consul (Investment), and Mr. Muhd Shahrulmiza Zakaria, Consul (Trade), engaged with participants and addressed queries on trade and investment.
