Last night 2 gates of Middle Vaitarna Dam were opened when water levels reached 282 metres. The full supply level of the dam is 285 metres, however BMC ensures that dam doesn’t fill to the full capacity & keeps a buffer to accommodate water from Upper Vaitarna in case of the same being released.
Water from Middle Vaitarna isn’t wasted though & goes into Modak Sagar which is also among the 7 lakes that supply to Mumbai’s daily water supply needs.

Modak Sagar 4th lake 2 start overflowing @ 2 am today after reaching its full supply level. Water stocks in 7 lakes supplying to Mumbai now at 70 %. Significant jump by almost 8 % in 1 calendar day.
