VEDANTA FOUNDATION is a Public Charitable Trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 with a Registration No. E 14045(Mumbai) dated the 15th Sept. 1992. The Foundation has also the approvals in the formats u/s 35AC and u/s 80G Of the Income Tax Act, 1961 and has also been registered under the FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 1976). Sustainable social development forms a key
part of Vedanta’s ethos. The company’s passion and commitment towards sustainable social development led to the creation of Vedanta Foundation. Vedanta Foundation was setup in the year 1992, as an extension to the company’s efforts for focused sustainable development of the underprivileged population of the country. Incorporated on the 15th of September 1992, today Vedanta Foundation epitomises an Institution striving for betterment of the underprivileged population of the country through focused social development programs culminating into transformation of lives of hundreds of thousands of people facilitating inclusive nation building. The Foundation through its capacity building initiatives provides holistic transformation of the underprivileged population of the country. Need based interventions form a core part of the Foundations social development strategy. To ensure that the targeted intervention supports and transforms a mass population, only scalable and sustainable interventions with high potential for development impact form a part of the social development priorities of the Foundation. We have built our development programs in the form of initiatives with a broad focus mainly on Education, Nutrition & Livelihood. We have further identified the potential areas within each of our broad development priorities and have dawned on focused interventions in concern areas such as basic education among the school children, child nutrition, essential vocational training such as computer literacy, women empowerment & most critical among all being employment to jobless youth among others which happen to be National concerns of the country and furthermore a part of the country’s agenda for its Millennium Development Goal. We have weaved all our development programs with a major thrust on Employment generation for creating a sustainable development model.
