Sand Cult, originally the brain child of Jerry Jose who is a keen enthusiast of creations in sand created a platform for a bunch of talented yet unnoticed sand sculptors from India. Sand art and sand sculptures are new to India though it’s hugely popular in Europe and North America. In India one rarely gets to see sand sculptures for real, it’s mostly only while browsing the internet. But we at Sa
nd Cult envisage changing this and bringing sand sculptures live to the naked eyes of all people. Quoting the famous author Jorge Luis Borges – “Nothing is built on stone; all is built on sand, but we must build as if the sand were stone.” All of us have grown up treasuring memories of playing with sand; sand evokes nostalgia in adults and sheer awe among kids. This form of art is truly magical while one creates sculptures of it simply using sand and water, just the most natural and basic elements of nature’s own.
