Shiwatso Library, Mundgod Community, Education, Joy of Reading Shiwatso Library - previously called Mundgod Public Library was blessed with the name by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Doeguling Tibetan settlement came into existence in 1966 in Mundgod, in South India under the rehabilitation scheme granted by the Government of India.It is the largest Tibetan Refugee settlement in India. Shiwatso opened its doors to the public after the auspicious inauguration by His Holiness on 22nd Dec 2016. The Library would be first of its kind in Tibetan exile diaspora in India and we hope

this will have a ripple effect in all the Tibetan settlements in India.With the strong student population & young adults, it is hoped that this Library will become an oasis of knowledge and a hub for young people. Through this page, we hope to connect with well-wishers of the community to bring in as much support as possible. We will also use this platform to post updates on the project. We take this opportunity to remember and thank our supporters for making this space a reality, with their support Shiwatso library is a wonderful thriving space for the community. We share here our favourite photo of the day of the inauguration and the blessed message from His Holiness, we continue to be inspired and guided by his message.

Shiwatso library was inaugurated by His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 22 Dec 2016.
