The Mussoorie Forest division marked its golden tenure under leadership of DFO Mrs Kahkashan Naseem (I.F.S). On 18th July 2022, the charge of MFD was handed over to the new DFO Mr. Ashutosh Singh (I.F.S).

The entire team of MWLS is grateful to mam who had always be there to guide us and help us whenever needed. MWLS saw incredible transformation under the supervision of DFO Mam. She had set an excellent example of true leadership and skillful HR Management. The entire team of MWLS feels lucky to have worked under her and learnt a lot from her.

We all wish you all the very best for the new posting and upcoming challenges and pray to have many more chances to work under you again Mam....

On 8th May, 2022 the Summer Bird Count was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Dhananjay Mohan, P.C.C.F along with Mrs Kahkashan Naseem (DFO Mussoorie) and bird experts like Mr Raman, Mr Sanjay Sondhi, Mrs Anchal Sondhi, Mr Taukeer Alam and staff of Mussoorie Wildlife Sanctuary.

This year 85 species of bird with 1126 number of birds were identified as compared to the 75 sps with 756 individuals identified in Summer Bird Count 2019. With the increase in number of species and individuals, there is a remarkable enthusiasm among the bird lovers with a hope that the effective conservation methods adopted in the Sanctuary will result into the more bird diversity in the future.

Exploring Fern Diversity

On 16th March, Dr. S.K. Singh, Incharge, Botanical Survey of India (Northern Circle) and Dr. Amit Kumar, Scientist-C, Wildlife Institute of India visited Mussoorie Wildlife Sanctuary for preliminary survey of ferns and angiosperms.
