Nearly one lakh historical monuments and archaeological sites stand across our 239 taluks. An inheritance of this scale cannot be protected by government effort alone — it needs society to walk alongside.
The Karnataka Heritage and Cultural Foundation (KHCF), proposed by our Karnataka Archaeology, will be placed before the State Cabinet shortly. Building on the encouraging response to our 'Adopt a Monument' initiative, it will let every contributor support a monument, site or museum of their own choosing, through a transparent mechanism.
But we want KHCF to be more than a conservation mechanism. It must bring our children face to face with their heritage, not merely to a chapter about it.
And to every Kannadiga living anywhere in the world — this is your invitation to become a cultural ambassador of Karnataka.
Our objective is simple: that the coming generations inherit our heritage with a deep sense of pride.
