Promoting Health and Sustainability: Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Initiative in Rajakkamangalam Village

Our dedicated volunteers, along with Dr. Pravitha, visited Rajakkamangalam Village, engaging with the community, including Thooimai Kavalarkal and children at the local Anganwadi.

The Village Panchayat President Tmt. R. Jagetheeshwari Sugumaran initiated the activities through her inspiring words.

Eco-friendly bags were distributed to encourage sustainable living, and the importance of hand washing and maintaining personal hygiene was taught to the children through fun and interactive methods, supporting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).

Volunteers also participated in the routine medical camp conducted by the medical officers from Govt Medical College, Asaripallam, ensuring access to essential health services for the villagers.

This initiative aligns with the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) themes by fostering community health, promoting sustainability, and enhancing local engagement. Together, we are building a healthier, more sustainable future for Rajakkamangalam Village.

Empowering Communities through Art and Action: Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Initiative in Melasankarankuzhi Village Panchayat

Volunteers from Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and the Youth Red Cross of Sree Ayyappa College for Women, transformed the Govt Primary School in Vempanoor, Melasankarankuzhi Village Panchayat. Together, we cleaned and revitalized the school wall, painting vibrant graffiti that highlights the importance of planting trees, a key aspect of SDG 15 (Life on Land).

Our efforts not only beautified the school environment but also educated the community on sustainable practices. Despite the scorching sun, our team and the enthusiastic students enjoyed a day filled with purpose and creativity.

This initiative aligns with the themes of the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP), emphasizing community engagement, environmental sustainability, and local development. By fostering awareness and action, we are contributing to a greener, more sustainable future for our village.

We are proud to share the work done by the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) volunteers from Sree Ayyappa College for Women in Nettancode village.

Under the UBA initiative, our dedicated volunteers have been tirelessly working to promote eco-friendly practices and water conservation, aligning their efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) themes.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Promoting the Use of Eco-friendly bags:

In an effort to reduce plastic waste and encourage sustainable living, our volunteers have been educating the community about the benefits of using eco-friendly bags. Through workshops and awareness campaigns, they have distributed reusable bags and demonstrated how small changes can make a big difference in reducing our environmental footprint. This initiative directly supports SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production.

SDG 6 : Clean Water and Sanitation

To preserve the Elixir of life - Water, and to promote water conservation techniques, UBA coordinators and volunteers interacted with the public to create awareness on rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation methods, and the importance of preserving water sources.

We hope to build together techniques to handle water scarcity in the Nettancode village (though the village is blessed with several ponds, scarcity of clean drinking water was an issue there)

Together, let us make a difference and build a sustainable future...
