*02 drug peddlers arrested,seized 42.94 gms of suspected he**in*

In efforts to curb drug menace under operation dawn 2.0 the *Ziro police on 30/06/25 arrested 02 drug peddlers under the guidance of Keni Bagra,SP Ziro.*

Acting on the tip off received about a credible information that one *Shri Biju is coming from Naharlagun with consignment of he**in in one silky silver colour maruti WagonR vehicle* ,a team comprising Insp. M. Lalyang,SI K.Yigam,ASI.P.Nobin, HC.T.Tale, Ct. J.Jangoi and L/Ct. P.Yaja under the supervision of SDPO O.Lego, conducted a suprise nakka checking at Police Check Gate Kardo (Hapoli).

During nakka checking, at around 2110 hrs the suspected vehicle arrived and when signalled to stop, the said vehicle swiftly fled from the Scene.

After intense vehicle pursuit the police team managed to intercept the suspected vehicle near Tribal Gym Hapoli.

Upon search it was *found that two alleged individuals identified as Shri Biju Borgohain,40 yrs and Shri Hage Tachang,35 yrs was inside the suspected vehicle*

Consequent *upon thorough search 33 nos. of plastic vials containing suspected he**in weighing 42.94 grams* was
recovered from their possession.

All legal formalities was followed during search and seizure in presence of executive magisterate Hage Tarung, SDO Old Ziro and independent witnesses.

Hence, a Case Vide Ziro Ps Case No. 40/2025 U/S 21[b]/27A NDPS Act registered and endorsed to SI.J.Doye for investigation.

Ziro, July 1, 2025:
In a strong push towards making Ziro a plastic-free zone, Deputy Commissioner Smti Oli Perme officially handed over the final batch of 10,000 cloth bags to the Market Welfare Committees of Hapoli and Old Ziro at a ceremony held at the Golden Jubilee Conference Hall.

The cloth bags, stitched by local SHGs under the ArSRLM scheme, were part of a CSR collaboration with Power Grid initiated by former DC Vivek H.P. The initiative not only curbs plastic use but also empowers local women by providing sustainable employment.

DC Perme also announced a district-wide ban on the use, storage, and sale of single-use plastic bags effective from August 15, 2025. She encouraged SHGs to diversify into other cloth-based products using traditional Apatani designs.

ADC Himani Meena proposed collaborations with major retailers like Vishal Mega Mart and emphasized maintaining Ziro's cultural identity in cloth bag designs. She also called for joint inspections post-ban and penal action against violators.

Officials from ArSRLM, SHG members, Bazar Committees, and local administrators attended the event, marking a major milestone in Ziro’s journey towards sustainability.
