Chisopani Football Club organised Plantation and Cleanliness drive
Chisopani Football Club, South Sikkim a registered football club of Sikkim carried out plantation and cleanliness drives at Chisopani Fatak and Himalayan Grace Academy premises on 11th July 2020. The club established in the year 2010. Apart from sporting activities, the Club has also been actively volunteering in social causes including organizing monthly cleanliness drive and annual plantation drive. Serving the society alongside promoting sports and sporting culture is what drives the Club forward.
The Club presently has more than 50 members and 20 loca football players. The Club so far has been conducting various activities through self funding. The Club over the years has took part in football tournaments within and outside Sikkim, with some of the players showcasing their soccer talent in the 9th All India Chief Minister’s International Gold Cup 2020 in Jorethang.
The plantation and cleanliness drive today saw active participation of club members, local residents including area Panchayat Hemlata Chettri, Borbotay Panchayat, Shova Khati and Himalyan Grace Academy Principal, SK Gurung.
President of the Club, Dik Bdr. Chettri said it is very important to conserve environment by ensuring proper cleanliness around one’s surrounding. We need to save environment for the coming generations, depletion of ozone layer, climate change resulting from global warming has been adversely affecting our environment, these drives are small efforts form us towards saving our environment, he said.
Speaking on Club’s vision, he said, our main motive is to promote young sporting talent from remote areas. Besides, our activities are also focused on social front, he added. Through this Club, we want to guide our youth towards constructive path maintaining safe distance against various forms of social evils, said Chettri.
Sharing the hardship to run a sports club on self generated fund, he requested the state government to come up with a programme where football clubs in Sikkim are provided an annual fund to sustain their activities .
