The Namrup Fertilizer Complex, renamed as Brahmputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited after bifurcation from erstwhile Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited w.e.f. 1st April 2002 located on the bank of the river Dilli in the south-western border of Dibrugarh District in Assam is the first factory of its kind in India to use associated natural gas as basic raw material for producing nitroge

nous fertilizer . Till the beginning of sixties, Namrup a sleepy village ,was little known to the rest of the country. Discovery of oil and natural gas in Naharkatiya region promoted a serious thinking on proper utilization of gas which had to be otherwise to be flared up. Consequent upon the recommendation of M/S. Snodgrass Associates of USA suggesting utilization of this hidden treasure to produce a large number of utilities including chemical fertilizers and electricity, the then Ministry of Mines and Fuel appointed a Committee headed by Shri S S Khera, ICS and based on its broad recommendation in respect of possible use of natural gas, a Technical Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. G P Kane further studied the possibilities of setting up a fertilizer plant in Assam while the Central Water and Power Commission was entrusted to explore the scope of setting up a power project based on this resource . The Kane Committee, after making detailed techno-economic study, recommended a fertilizer factory to be located at Namrup .Needless to say that ,Central Water and Power Commission too recommended favourably resulting in the setting-up of Thermal Power Plant within the striking distance from the fertilizer factory at Namrup.

BVFCL joined the nationwide campaign for a drug-free India by taking the National Pledge Against Drug Abuse under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The pledge was taken in the presence of Hon’ble CMD, Shri Mohan Raj Shetty, along with senior officials and dignitaries of BVFCL. Employees came together with a shared commitment to spread awareness, encourage healthy choices and contribute towards building a safer and drug-free society.

BVFCL Celebrates the 80th Independence Day with Pride and Patriotism

The spirit of freedom and love for the nation filled Gandhi Maidan, Namrup, as Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.

The celebrations began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Hon’ble CMD Shri Mohan Raj Shetty at the Officers’ Club, followed by floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Mandap.

At Gandhi Maidan, the National Flag was hoisted at 9:15 AM, followed by the National Anthem, National Salute and an inspection of the CISF Guard of Honour.

The occasion was made even more special with the distribution of prizes and vibrant cultural performances by schoolchildren, bringing together BVFCL employees, their families, senior officials and members of the Namrup community.

A day of pride, unity and gratitude for the countless sacrifices that gave us our freedom. 🇮🇳

The spirit of Har Ghar Tiranga reached BVFCL, Namrup, as we came together to celebrate our national flag with pride and a sense of belonging.

To honour this initiative of the Government of India, Hon’ble CMD, BVFCL, Shri Mohan Raj Shetty, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the beginning of the celebrations.

Hon’ble CMD of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL), Shri Mohan Raj Shetty, today met Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam at the NTPS Guest House, Namrup, during the Hon’ble Chief Minister’s visit to the flood-affected areas of the state.

During the meeting, Shri Mohan Raj Shetty reaffirmed the organization’s commitment towards strengthening the region’s industrial and agricultural development.

As a gesture of solidarity with the people affected by the recent floods, Shri Mohan Raj Shetty also handed over a cheque of ₹2 lakh from BVFCL towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts across Assam.
