Dr. Mudasir Akbar Shah has expressed deep concern over the severe hailstorm that recently struck Kawari, khurhama, warnow Lolab, causing extensive damage to crops and orchards. The untimely natural calamity has dealt a heavy blow to the livelihood of farmers and orchardists, with significant losses reported in apple orchards, walnut trees, and seasonal vegetable crops. This harvest represented their entire year’s income, and the destruction has pushed them into serious financial distress. Such recurring climatic shocks demand immediate and effective intervention from the authorities.
Dr. Shah has urged the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, the district administration, and the concerned government departments to take prompt cognizance of the situation. He called for the immediate deputation of a joint assessment team to the affected areas to evaluate the extent of the losses on the ground. He further emphasized that adequate compensation and timely relief must be provided to the affected farmers and orchard owners, with special focus on those who have suffered severe financial setbacks. Ensuring swift assistance, he noted, is essential not only for economic recovery but also for sustaining the morale of the farming community in the region.
