Bringing quality benchmarks into India’s academic and research laboratories.

The Quality Council of India-National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (QCI-NABL) and IIT Roorkee have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance quality assurance, accreditation awareness, laboratory excellence and capacity building across academic and research environments.

The MoU was signed and exchanged by Dr Ramanand N. Shukla, CEO-NABL, and Dr Vivek Mallik, Dean, SRIC-IIT Roorkee, during a Strategic Partnership & MoU Signing Ceremony held at the Quality Council of India, World Trade Centre, New Delhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shukla emphasised the adoption of quality benchmarks and standard laboratory practices within academic and research environments, while Dr Mallik shared IIT Roorkee’s perspective on the collaboration.

The strategic partnership marks an important step towards strengthening quality practices and building capacity across India’s academic and research landscape.

NABL-QCI successfully hosted the NABL Regional Assessor Conclave on 2 September 2026 in Mumbai, bringing together NABL Assessors from across the region to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and reinforce excellence in assessments.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation, thought-provoking discussions, and meaningful knowledge exchange, drawing on the rich experience and expertise of NABL Assessors. It reaffirmed the indispensable role of assessors in advancing quality, patient safety, and continuous improvement.

Through such initiatives, NABL continues to strengthen its assessor community by fostering continuous learning, professional development, and collaborative engagement, furthering its commitment to excellence in healthcare accreditation and assessment.

Championing Quality in Education & Industry Readiness

On 27 August 2026, NABL-QCI signed an MoU with Parul University, Vadodara, strengthening the partnership between quality, education, research and industry.

The MoU was formalised by Dr. Ramanand N. Shukla, CEO, NABL and Dr. Geetika Madan Patel, Vice President, Parul University.

The collaboration will focus on:
- Building quality capabilities among students and faculty
- Further strengthening laboratory quality and accreditation to support industry and research needs
- Bridging academia with evolving industry requirements
- Promoting a culture of quality, competence and excellence

With Parul University already having a NABL-accredited medical laboratory, this collaboration builds on an established foundation of quality and extends it towards greater industry engagement, applied research and capacity building.

Together, NABL and Parul University are working to make quality an integral part of education and industry readiness.

Strengthening public health rests on the strength of the testing that supports it. In the fight against critical diseases such as HIV/AIDS, reliable laboratory results are vital to timely diagnosis, effective treatment and informed public health action.

Taking an important step towards this, the National AIDS Control Organization (NACO) and NABL-QCI signed and exchanged an MoU to deepen collaboration and convergence, with a focus on enhancing the quality and reliability of laboratory test results across ICTCs, PPTCTs, DSRCs and equivalent facilities under the NACO network.

The MoU was signed and exchanged by Dr. Rakesh Gupta, IAS, Additional Secretary & Director General, MoHFW, and Mr. Chakravarthy T. Kannan, Secretary General, QCI.

This collaboration will strengthen laboratory services, enhance confidence in test results and support reliable, high-quality diagnostics across the NACO network.

Extending quality testing to laboratories serving communities across the country, including remote, rural and far-flung areas, this collaboration marks a significant step towards stronger public health systems and more equitable access to reliable diagnostics.

Building the Future of Quality-Assured Healthcare: NABL and the Government of Odisha join hands to transform the medical laboratory ecosystem.

NABL, a constituent Board of QCI, signed an MoU with the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha on 4 Aug 2026 at Kharavela Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Hon'ble Minister of Health, Shri (Dr.) Mukesh Mahaling.

The MoU was exchanged between Dr. Ramanand N. Shukla, CEO, NABL, and Prof. (Dr.) Durga Madhab Satapathy, Director, DMET.

The partnership aims to strengthen Odisha's medical laboratory ecosystem through accreditation, capacity building and statewide quality awareness initiatives and aligns seamlessly with the transformative vision of Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Taking Quality Food Testing Closer to Communities.

NABL has launched India’s first-of-its-kind Accreditation Scheme for Mobile Food Testing Laboratories under the Integrated Assessment Programme.

By taking accredited testing beyond conventional laboratory walls, the scheme makes reliable, quality-assured and internationally benchmarked food testing more accessible nationwide.

Through this expanded testing framework, the initiative will help:
