Building the Future of Quality-Assured Healthcare: NABL and the Government of Odisha join hands to transform the medical laboratory ecosystem.

NABL, a constituent Board of QCI, signed an MoU with the Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha on 4 Aug 2026 at Kharavela Bhavan, Bhubaneswar, in the presence of Hon'ble Minister of Health, Shri (Dr.) Mukesh Mahaling.

The MoU was exchanged between Dr. Ramanand N. Shukla, CEO, NABL, and Prof. (Dr.) Durga Madhab Satapathy, Director, DMET.

The partnership aims to strengthen Odisha's medical laboratory ecosystem through accreditation, capacity building and statewide quality awareness initiatives and aligns seamlessly with the transformative vision of Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Taking Quality Food Testing Closer to Communities.

NABL has launched India’s first-of-its-kind Accreditation Scheme for Mobile Food Testing Laboratories under the Integrated Assessment Programme.

By taking accredited testing beyond conventional laboratory walls, the scheme makes reliable, quality-assured and internationally benchmarked food testing more accessible nationwide.

Through this expanded testing framework, the initiative will help:
•⁠ ⁠Strengthen food safety surveillance
•⁠ ⁠Improve access to quality testing
•⁠ ⁠Enable faster regulatory interventions
•⁠ ⁠Enhance consumer confidence
A new step towards a more accessible, agile and trusted food safety ecosystem.

Quality testing is now closer to communities.

Where a sample cannot reach a laboratory, a laboratory can now reach the sample.

Today, the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) launched India's first Accreditation Scheme for Mobile Food Testing Laboratories under the Integrated Assessment Programme at 'Gunvatta Samanvaya’ in a Multilateral MoU Exchange Ceremony.

Mobile units have long extended testing to places fixed infrastructure cannot easily serve. Until now, they stood outside the accreditation framework. This Scheme brings them within it, ensuring the same benchmarks, the same rigour, wherever the unit is deployed.

What changes? Results closer to the source. Timely regulatory intervention. And the assurance that a mobile laboratory's result carries the same weight as a fixed facility's in the remotest district as in the capital.

Quality that travels the last mile.

Every bite India takes passes through a chain of hands, and a chain of checks.

At 'Gunvatta Samanvaya' in a Multilateral MoU Exchange Ceremony, NABL launched India's first Accreditation Scheme for Mobile Food Testing Laboratories under the Integrated Assessment Programme, bringing mobile testing units within the accreditation framework for the first time.

For the regulator, that means a result it can act on. For the trader, a standard that holds wherever the unit is deployed. For the consumer, an assurance that does not depend on the postcode. Quality now travels the last mile.
