ROAD Safety : Time for Action Ministry of Road Transport & Highways initiative to Raise awareness on road safety and pointing out No previous government really addressed this menace.

In India, every year roughly 1.5 lakh people die in 5 lakh road accidents. The estimated loss to the country equals roughly 3% of our annual GDP. Besides, it leaves, traumatized, devastated, unhappy families. But times are a changing. For the first time, the government has drawn up a comprehensive plan to combat the problem. Moreover, it has set an ambitious target to bringing down road accidents

by half in the next 5 years. To make Road Safety a way of life, Road Safety week is being observed between 10th- 16th January. Subsequently, the campaign will extend to the whole year. I request all my friends and readers to come and join the Road Safety mission. The time for action is now, before more lives are lost and more damage done. Jai Hind!
