#dharabindu presents key facts about Low-Temperature Thermal Desalination (LTTD) Technology.
LTTD technology, developed by NIOT under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, addresses Sustainable Development Goal 6 by converting seawater into clean drinking water for islanders. Utilising the temperature gradient between surface and deep seawater, this method provides fresh water for communities. LTTD plants in Kavaratti, Agatti, and Minicoy produce 100,000 litres of potable water daily. Additional plants, each capable of producing 1.5 lakh litres daily are operational in Amini, Chetlat, Kadmat, and Kalpeni, and more in Androth and Kiltan Islands are being set up. These environmentally friendly plants are simple to operate and reduce vulnerability to waterborne diseases.

भारत के महत्वाकांक्षी समुद्रयान मिशन के तहत तैयार की जा रही स्वदेशी मनवयुक्त पनडुब्बी मत्स्य-6000 का परीक्षण जल्द ही समुद्र में किया जाएगा। इसका उद्देश्य समुद्र की 6000 मीटर गहराई तक पहुंचकर समुद्र के स्रोतों और जैव-विविधता का अध्ययन करना है।
मत्स्य 6000 की खासियत:
- यह पनडुब्बी 80 मिमी मोटी टाइटेनियम मिश्र धातु से बनी है, जो कि इसे काफी सुरक्षित बनाती है।
- यह समुद्र तल से 600 गुना ज़्यादा दबाव झेल सकेगी, जिससे अंदर बैठे वैज्ञानिक पर समुद्र के दबाव का कोई असर नहीं पड़ेगा।
- यह 12 से 16 घंटे तक लगातार काम कर सकेगी, जिससे समुद्र तल में लंबे समय तक अन्वेषण किया जा सकेगा।
- आपातकालीन स्थिति में यह 96 घंटे तक ऑक्सीजन की आपूर्ति करेगी, जिसे उच्च जीवन समर्थन प्रणाली कह सकते हैं।
- यह पनडुब्बी गहरे समुद्र में जाकर वहां के स्रोतों और जैव-विविधता का अध्ययन करेगी, जिससे हमें समुद्र तल की

विज्ञान भवन में 24 अक्टूबर को ग्राम पंचायत स्तर पर मौसम पूर्वानुमान का शुभारंभ किया गया। इस अवसर पर माननीय पृथ्वी विज्ञान राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री डॉ जितेंद्र सिंह जी ने कहा कि माननीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेंद्र मोदी जी का आभार व्यक्त करना चाहता हूं कि उनके नेतृत्व में पृथ्वी विज्ञान मंत्रालय और इससे जुड़े संस्थान प्रगति कर रहे हैं। हमें अपने टेक्नोलॉजी को एडवांस करने की पूरी स्वतंत्रता मिली है। जहां हम पहले केवल रडार के माध्यम से भविष्यवाणी किया करते थे, वहीं अब हमने स्पेस टेक्नोलॉजी का भी इस्तेमाल करना शुरू कर दिया है। जिससे हमारी भविष्यवाणी में 40% की बढ़ोतरी हुई है।
