Ghitorni - A village located in south Delhi, at MG Road, near Gurgaon boarder & Vasant Kunj. This is a beautiful urban village Surrounded by green ridge (Small hills). It has population of about 250000. This is the biggest village of NCR (Don't have any colony). Population consisting mainly Gurjar (75%), Brahmans (10%), SC (10%) & others (5%) {It is estimated only}. History - According to Bhaats (
a branch of brahmans who keeps the record & tells from very ancient time) It was village of brahmans & its name was Gadi, & normally Dada Devi Ram gurjar came here fromChitrh Gharh Rajasthan (926 AD)with their cattle. At some issue, a battle was started between them. Gurjar won the battle & captured the village & renamed it kheda. Later on its name was again changed as Ghitorni. With the rise of its population, another village took birth, it is known as Aya Nagar located near Ghitorni. This village is famous for its kusti tradition. There is a big list of famous pehlwans & weightlifters. Current - Ghitorni village is a gurjar village, main subcast Panwar (lohmod, Iohia). Bhati & other gotra is also there but number is negligible. Kusti akhada & gyms are still the first choice of its youth population & their number is growing. Level of education is also improving. As like rest of country, cricket is the most favorite game followed by volleyball & kabbadi. Mostly population follow hindu religion, few follow muslim & Christianity. Some of the residents of Ghitorni are filthy rich and are involved in active politics also. However, there is no recognised politician as such from this village.
