GUIDELINES FOR URBAN CHALLENGE FUND

▶️ Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched Operational Guidelines for the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) on 15th April, 2026

▶️ The scheme guidelines are in public domain and may be accessed at:https://www.mohua.gov.in/static/uploads/2026/04/7950afb9b2d5cb773ba3d6c64bde9726.pdf

▶️ UCF has been introduced to catalyse a paradigm shift in urban development by encouraging cities to transition towards market-based financing and integrated regional development

▶️ The Fund aims to position cities as a bankable asset class through targeted reforms, strengthened institutional capacity, improved governance and planning frameworks, and the development of sustainable revenue-generating urban infrastructure

Integrated Command and Control Centres (ICCCs) have played a crucial role in the implementation of the Smart Cities Mission. These centres play a vital role in urban management by enabling real-time monitoring, data-driven decision-making, and integrated service delivery across various sectors such as mobility, water supply, sanitation, solid waste management, public safety, etc.

ICCCs are functioning as the nerve centers for city operations, enabling real-time monitoring, data-driven decision-making and proactive management of urban services

These centres integrate data from various urban domains such as traffic management, solid waste management, water supply, street lighting, public safety and emergency response systems

✅ विरोध प्रदर्शन से जुड़ी एक घटना में गंभीर रूप से घायल 21 वर्षीय महिला का उपचार जारी है। उसकी स्थिति में लगातार सुधार हो रहा है। उसे वेंटिलेटर से हटा दिया गया है और अब वह स्वयं सांस ले रही है।

➤ DRDO conducts successful maiden flight-test of ‘Kusha’ Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile

➤ This maiden test was conducted against an electronic target simulating high-speed and high-altitude aerial threat which was successfully intercepted by the missile system

➤ The ‘Kusha’ missile system is capable of neutralising a wide variety of aerial threats including fighter jets, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles and large enemy aircraft within a wide range & altitude envelope.

IMPLEMENTATION OF PM-SVANIDHI SCHEME

PM SVANidhi Scheme was initially implemented in statutory urban areas. The eligibility was also extended to street vendors from surrounding peri-urban areas who vend within the geographical limits of Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). Under the restructured PM SVANidhi Scheme, the coverage of the Scheme is expanded in a phased manner beyond statutory urban areas to include census towns, peri urban areas etc.

Impact assessment studies of the PM SVANidhi scheme was undertaken by Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad in 2023 & 2025. The 2023 study was conducted in 100 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) across the country covering more than 5,000 beneficiaries and it found that PM SVANidhi was the first loan from a bank for 95% of the beneficiaries and the loan was utilized for expanding their business
