Hon'ble Union Minister for Education, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, chaired a meeting to deliberate upon a comprehensive action plan of the Ministry for celebration of the Constitution Day more so in the context of 75th year of Indian Constitution and observance of Veer Bal Diwas in educational institutions nationwide.

During the meeting, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy, Secretary, Department of Higher Education, presented a roadmap of activities planned for Higher Education Institutes (HEIs). Similarly, Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy, provided an overview of initiatives designed for schools to commemorate these significant occasions.

The Education Minister emphasized the importance of encouraging students to deepen their understanding of the Constitution of India, its guiding principles and underlying philosophy of development. He urged all institutions to actively engage students in activities that foster awareness about the ideals and values enshrined in the Constitution.

Senior officials from the Ministry also participated in the meeting.

National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes experiential learning through scientific exploration and to bring this vision to life, Navodaya Vidyalaya, Gurugram hosted National Science Exhibition on 11th November 2024 which coincided with inauguration of Atal Tinkering Lab. This event saw participation of 80 selected students from 653 NVs across 8 regions, showcasing their scientific innovations under five key sub-themes: Food, Health & Hygiene, Transport & Communication, Natural Farming, Life for Environment, and Mathematical Modelling & Computational Thinking.

The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs. Prachi Pandey, Joint Secretary, Department of School Education & Literacy and Commissioner of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). Atal Tinkering Lab (ATL) was also inaugurated on the same day. ATL fosters curiosity, creativity and imagination in young minds. These initiatives empower students to explore their potential, enhance their problem-solving skills, and foster creativity, helping them develop a deeper understanding of scientific concepts and their real-world applications.

As part of Janjatiya Gaurav Pakhwara, the Department of School Education and Literacy has launched impactful initiatives to educate students across India about the heroic legacy of Dharti Aaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda, honouring his contributions to India’s freedom struggle and tribal pride. Among these is a special tribute film on Birsa Munda which is now available on PM e-Vidya in Hindi and English.

The Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi has provided a special message in this enlightening film, which also provides a poignant depiction of Birsa Munda's bravery and commitment. This makes his inspiring journey more accessible to the youth.

शिक्षा मंत्रालय द्वारा शिक्षा को समावेशी तथा न्याय संगत बनाने के दृष्टिकोण से 'पीएम विद्यालक्ष्मी' स्कीम लागू किया गया है। इसके अंतर्गत देश के 860 उच्च संस्थानों में छात्रों को प्रवेश के साथ ही गारंटर मुक्त ऋण प्राप्त हो सकेगा। इस स्कीम से प्रत्येक वर्ष 7 लाख विद्यार्थियों को लाभ मिलने का अनुमान है।

The valedictory function for National Learning Week (NLW) was held today at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in which the Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSEL) was felicitated as one of the top performers by Dr Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (PP).

Launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, from 19th to 27th October 2024, NLW aims to empower government officials with essential skills to foster a future shaped by knowledge and Seva Bhav. The department executed this initiative with outstanding success: 166 of 176 officials actively participated, achieving over 1,270 learning hours in total, with an impressive 88% of participants completing more than four hours of learning.

Dr. Amarpreet Duggal, Joint Secretary, DoSEL, received the award on behalf of the Department.
