Nandur Madhmeshwar Bird Sanctuary is located in Niphad Tehsil of Nashik district in Western Maharashtra. This sanctuary which houses more than 220 species of birds, 400 species of vegetation, 24 species of fish and several smaller mammals came into existence along the Nandur Madhmeshwar dam at the confluence of Godavari and Kadwa. Spread over the protected area of 10000 hectares, lies the core are

a of 1765 hectares, where the large variety of water birds,resident and migratory birds congregate in season. It is now counted as one of the important water fowl habitats in the region by the International Union of Conservation of Nature. The water released from Gangapur and Darana water reservoirs is stored at Nandur Madhameshwar and subsequently released from here through canals for irrigation. Silts and organic matter that are carried away with water flow are accumulated in the lake, due to which islands and shallow water ponds have been created. This resulted in the biological enriched conditions by which aquatic vegetation has been stabilised. Thus the site has turned into good wetland habitat aptly described as 'Bharatpur of Maharashtra". Nandur Madhmeshwar is nice place for birding, it gives better opportunities for photography, because the area of back water in Nandur Madhmeshwar is very vast.

नांदूर मध्यमेश्वर पक्षी अभयारण्य

नाशिकपासून सुमारे ६० कि.मी. अंतरावर नांदूर मध्यमेश्वर हे पक्ष्यांसाठीचे प्रसिद्ध अभयारण्य आहे. गोदावरी आणि कादवा नदीच्या संगमाच्या प्रवाहावर नांदूर मध्यमेश्वर दगडी धरण बांधण्यात आले आहे. नाशिक जिल्ह्यातल्या निफाड तालुक्यात हे अभयारण्य वसलेले असून त्याचे क्षेत्रफळ १००.०२ चौ. कि. मी. आहे. १९६२ मध्ये हे क्षेत्र अधिसूचित करण्यात आले.

जलाशयातील उथळ पाणी, पाण्यातील विपुल जलचर, विविध पाणवनस्पती, किनाऱ्याला असलेली वनराई आणि जवळच्या सिंचन शेतातील पिके यामुळे पक्ष्यांसाठी हे आकर्षणाचे ठिकाण झाले असून त्यांच्या निवासासाठी हे एक उत्तम स्थळ आहे. येथील जलाशयात २४ प्रकारचे मासे आहेत. परिसरात ४०० हून अधिक प्रजातींच्या वनस्पतींची विविधता आहे.

या अभयरण्यात टिल्स, पोचार्ड, व्हिजन, गडवाल, शाउलर,पिनटेल, क्रेन, गार्गणी, टर्नस, गुज, गॉडवीट सँड, पायपर, क्रेक यांसारखे स्थलांतरीत पक्षी आढळतात.

Nandur Madhmeshwar Bird Sanctuary is located in Niphad Tehsil of Nashik district in Western Maharashtra. It is nice place for birding and gives better opportunities for photography too

Nandur Madhmeshwar Bird Sanctuary is a great place for many lovely and transitory fledglings. There are more than 240 types of birds. The migratory flying birds found in this area are Spoonbills, Flamigo, Goose Brahminy Duck, Pintails and so on

नाशिक जिल्ह्यातील निफाड तालुक्यात गोदावरी नदीवर निसर्गाने तयार झालेल्या या सुंदर पाणथळ जागेवर हिवाळ्यात नोव्हे- फेब या कालावधीत हजारो परदेशी पक्षी दूरचा प्रवास करून इथे येतात. सुंदर, शांत निसर्गरम्य परिसर व पक्षांना मुबलक प्रमाणात उपलब्ध असलेल खाद्य तसेच इतर खूप अशा गोष्टी पक्षांना येथे आकर्षित करतात.
या परिसराला मिनी महाबळेश्वर म्हणून तसेच भरतपूर म्हणून ओळखले जाऊ लागले आहेत, हिवाळ्यात येथ
े कडाक्याची थंडी असते, येथील पक्षांचा जीवनप्रवास प्रत्यक्षात अनुभवण्यासाठी तसेच येथील निसर्गरम्य परिसर पाहण्यासाठी देशी - परदेशी पर्यटक येथे गर्दी करतात. फ्लेमिंगो , किंगफिशर , Black Ibis, Spot Bills, Teals, Little Grabe, Cormorants, Egrets, Herons, Stork, Kites, Vultures, Buzzards, Harriers, Osprey, Quails, Patridges, Eagles, Water Hens, Sand Pipe, Swifts, Grey hornbill, इत्यादी परदेशी पक्षी पर्यटकांचे मुख्य आकर्षण असते.
येथे सुमारे ४६० प्रकारच्या वनस्पती आढळतात त्यातील ८० प्रकारच्या ह्या पाणवनस्पती आहेत. बाबुल , नीम, तमारिंद , जामून, महारुख, विलायती चिंच , आंबा, पांगारा , निलगिरी इ रुक्ष येथे सर्वसाधारणपणे आदळतात.
