Parul Puri Memorial Interschool Competition –
“Fact Meets Fiction: A Dialogue Across Time”
Celebrating the enduring legacy of Ms Parul Puri, the former Primary Wing Headmistress of Lotus Valley International School, the Middle Wing hosted the tenth edition of the Parul Puri Memorial Interschool Competition on 18 August 2026. The annual competition honours her vision of nurturing creativity, confidence and thoughtful young minds. This year’s theme, “Fact Meets Fiction – A Dialogue Across Time,” invited students to weave together history, fiction and contemporary thought through imaginative dialogues.

Students from 10 schools brought these imagined encounters to life through engaging dramatised dialogues. From Cinderella and Mahatma Gandhi discussing fast fashion and identity to Oppenheimer and Odysseus exploring war and geopolitics, the performances showcased remarkable creativity, critical thinking and theatrical finesse. The showstopper was an imagined conversation between Shri Krishna and Donald Trump, culminating in a powerful message of peace and humanity.

The performances were judged by Ms Sahar Zaman, award-winning author and journalist, and Ms Payal Talwar, writer, educator and NLP trainer.

Lotus Valley International School emerged as the First Prize winner, followed by Sommerville School, Noida, as the First Runner-up, and Delhi Public School, Sector 45, Gurugram, as the Second Runner-up.

Ms Payal Talwar praised the theme as a beautiful amalgamation of the logical and creative minds, while Ms Sahar Zaman urged students to value their time and develop the discernment to navigate misinformation.

Ms Sumita Wadhwa, Parul Ma’am’s elder sister, expressed her gratitude to the school for keeping her sister’s legacy alive. In her Vote of Thanks, Headmistress Ms Neerja Rishi acknowledged the participants, judges, teachers and the Parul Puri family, and commended the students for their outstanding efforts.

"Freedom in Every Step, Patriotism in Every Heart"

On Thursday, 13 August 2026, the stage came alive as the charming Lotus Buds of UKG Robins & UKG Doves celebrated Independence Day with boundless enthusiasm. Draped in the vibrant hues of the tricolour, our young Lotusians filled the air with patriotism through a series of captivating and joyful performances.

Our little performers stole the show! Whether it was the sweet, soulful melody of ‘Nanha Munna Rahi Hoon’ or the high-energy dance performance to ‘Jai Ho’ and ‘Menu Lagya Basanti rang’, their innocent patriotism shone through in every step. Seeing them celebrate our nation's diversity with such warmth and enthusiasm reminds us that India’s future is bright and hopeful and is in wonderful hands.

Adding to the patriotic spirit, the children came beautifully dressed as legendary freedom fighters and national leaders, confidently echoing their iconic slogans. They also shared thoughtful insights about the Tiranga, proudly explaining the significance and pride behind the colours of our national flag.

Our Pre-Primary Headmistress, Ekta Sachdev Ma'am was filled with immense joy and pride as she witnessed the little buds shine on stage. Her kind words of encouragement and heartfelt appreciation uplifted the young hearts. The assembly concluded to resounding applause, leaving everyone inspired and uplifted.

Creative Strokes: Young Minds at Work

Creativity came alive at Lotus Valley International School, Noida, as the students of Class II enthusiastically participated in the Creative Strokes – Art Competition on 3rd August 2026. The competition provided a vibrant platform for young learners to express their imagination, creativity and artistic flair through captivating drawings based on themes such as My Favourite Festival, Unity in Diversity, My Favourite Season and Underwater World.
Armed with crayons, oil pastels and boundless imagination, the budding artists transformed blank sheets into colourful masterpieces. Each artwork reflected originality, thoughtful interpretation of the chosen theme and a wonderful blend of colours. The competition encouraged students to think creatively, express their ideas confidently and develop a deeper appreciation for art as a medium of self-expression.
The event was a true celebration of talent, imagination and individuality. The enthusiasm, dedication and artistic excellence displayed by every participant made the competition a memorable experience.

Independence Day Celebration and Scholar Badge Ceremony 2026–27

Lotus Valley International School, Noida, celebrated a morning that brought together the pride of the nation and the promise of its future-honouring the freedom we cherish while recognising the young achievers and dedicated educators who embody the values of excellence, discipline, perseverance, and service. The Independence Day Celebration and Scholar Badge & Staff Felicitation Ceremony 2026–27 thus became a meaningful confluence of patriotism, scholarship, and responsible citizenship.

The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Chief Guest Lieutenant General Vineet Gaur, PVSM, AVSM, Director General Capability Development, Army Headquarters, along with other dignitaries, followed by the National Anthem. As the Tricolour soared high, symbolising the courage and sacrifice of the nation’s freedom fighters, the gathering was filled with a deep sense of pride. Adding a delightful touch of innocence, the tiny tots, dressed as iconic freedom fighters, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries.

The ceremonial proceedings continued with the Lighting of the sacred Lamp, followed by “GARJANA: A Patriotic Symphony,” a stirring choir presentation based on the evocative Raag Megh Malhar, which resonated through the auditorium with its powerful tribute to the spirit of the nation.

The occasion was graced by Lieutenant General Vineet Gaur, PVSM, AVSM, Director General Capability Development, Army Headquarters, and Mrs. Aarti Gaur, along with the Vice Chairpersons, Ms. Sureena Uppal and Ms. Jaspreet Kaur, members of the management, and Principal Ms. Indu Yadav, lending warmth and distinction to the occasion.

In her inspiring address, Principal Ms. Indu Yadav emphasised that the Scholar Badge Ceremony is not merely a recognition of marks, but a celebration of the overall personality, values, and character of students. She encouraged learners to meet challenges with courage and wisdom and to contribute meaningfully towards building a sustainable future and an environment worthy of generations to come.

Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant General Vineet Gaur highlighted the importance of discipline in a student’s life, reminding students that discipline, perseverance, and integrity form the true foundations of success and responsible citizenship.

The theatrical presentation, “Unsung Heroes,” paid a poignant tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the lesser-known heroes of India’s freedom struggle. Graceful performances of Kathak and Bharatanatyam further celebrated the richness and enduring beauty of India’s classical heritage.

A particularly heartwarming moment of the morning was the Staff Felicitation Ceremony, where educators completing 20, 15, and 10 years of dedicated service were honoured for their unwavering commitment to nurturing young minds and shaping lives.

The highlight of the celebration was the Scholar Badge Presentation, during which meritorious students were recognised for their academic excellence, discipline, perseverance, and steadfast commitment to learning.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by Vice Principal Ms. Jyoti Vats, followed by the stirring rendition of “Sare Jahan Se Achha,” leaving the gathering imbued with a renewed sense of purpose, gratitude, and national pride.

The celebration served as a fitting reminder that the freedom we cherish carries with it a responsibility to serve the nation with integrity, while scholarship illuminates the mind and character gives purpose to every achievement.

Celebrating the Spirit of Freedom

Pre-Primary Bagless Day

The Pre-Primary wing of Lotus Valley International School, Noida celebrated Independence Day on 14 August 2026, with immense enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and a vibrant splash of the tricolour! As part of our Bagless Day, children from all three grades came dressed in beautiful hues of saffron, white and green, filling the school with the colours of our nation. The day began with an engaging interactive discussion and a short story that helped our young learners understand the significance of Independence Day. Through an informative presentation on India’s National Symbols, children explored and learnt about the symbols that represent our proud nation.

Our Nursery patriots participated in a cheerful parade, proudly expressing their love for the country. Adding a creative and experiential touch to the celebrations, they also enjoyed an Independence Day craft activity.

Our LKG little chefs enthusiastically prepared a colourful and nutritious paneer, cucumber and carrot salad, learning the joy of creating something independently.

The UKG children took centre stage as they dressed up as their favourite Indian national icons and personalities, confidently speaking a few lines about them. The celebration continued with a fun and delicious Tricolour Sandwich-Making Activity, allowing them to explore creativity through food.

It was a joyful day filled with learning, creativity, confidence, collaboration and patriotism, making Independence Day a truly meaningful and memorable experience for our little learners.

🇮🇳 Independence Day-Assembly by Grade 6 🇮🇳

Grade 6 Aries and Phoenix students presented a vibrant and patriotic assembly celebrating the spirit of freedom, unity, sacrifice, and national pride.

The assembly featured “Vande Mataram,” a Thought for the Day on responsible freedom, a book review, news, and a meaningful Nukkad Natak highlighting cleanliness, responsible social media use, and civic duties.

A special dance tribute honoured legendary freedom fighters and national leaders—Rani Lakshmibai, Bhagat Singh, Mangal Pandey, Subhas Chandra Bose, and Mahatma Gandhi. The celebration also included a patriotic singing performance, an inspiring address by Principal Ms Indu Yadav , and a heartfelt video featuring teachers sharing what “Azaadi” means to them.

The assembly beautifully reminded everyone that freedom comes with responsibility and that every citizen has a role to play in building a better nation.
