The District Social Welfare Office, and District Administration innaugurate the newly office name Shakti Sadan a significant step toward strengthening institutional support systems, redressal, and rehabilitation for women in distress.
The gathering witnessed the presence of Smt. N.F Sunn District Social Welfare Officer cm Nodal Officer Shakti Sadan, Shri. Remy Nelson Kharbteng, State Mission Coordinator, Smt. M. Kharbihkhiew, District Mission Coordinator District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Smt. M. Kharkongor Gender Spcialist State Hub for Empowerment of Women , Shri Manlang Mawphniang, Village Secretary, Smt. Anju Lapang, Secretary of the Local Complaint Committee, officials from different departments, women police personnel, staff from the One Stop Centre (OSC), Staff from District hub and Shakti Sadan and other dignitaries, alongside Lamjingshai VO Mawdiangum, who presented a welcome song.
The programme featured collaborative addresses and keynote speeches highlighting community-level and institutional safety nets:
Chief Guest's : Dr. Abhishek Saini, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and delivered the official inaugural address. He stressed the importance for community leaders to spread awareness about these vital services and urged leveraging MSRLS through Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to ensure awareness generation reaches women in need.
Representatives from Directorate of Social Welfare: Shri.Remy Nelson Kharbteng, State Mission Coordinator, spoke extensively on the multi-faceted benefits of Shakti Sadan, highlighting how the facility aims to provide holistic rehabilitation, safe shelter, counseling, and integrated support services for women in distress.
Services Provided:
• Safe temporary shelter, food, clothing, and toiletries.
• Psycho-social counseling and mental health support.
• Legal aid and primary healthcare assistance.
• Vocational training to foster financial independence and rehabilitation.
• Facilitation of government entitlements and documents (such as Ayushman Bharat health cards and Jan Dhan bank accounts).
The formal ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Resident Superintendent of Shakti Sadan, Smt. Merilis Syngkli, followed by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony and an exclusive facility walkthrough for the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and invited dignitaries.
