GOLDEN JUBILEE OF CARMEL COLLEGE
Milestone after milestone since 1964
Has led to this Golden Jubilee stone
As on January 19, 2014 we open its threshold door
To begin our glorious celebrations with an attitude
Of love, joy and a heart full of humble gratitude.
Situated on the serene and verdant Nuvem hill,
Carmel College has kept its flag flying high still.
Thousands of beautiful girls have crossed its portals,
Spreading far and wide the unique name of Carmel,
The Sisters of The Apostolic Carmel Congregation
Render to Almighty God their thanks and adoration.
It was in 1964, a small band of A. C. Sisters
With Sister Valeria A.C. as the captain of the barque
Laid the foundation stone at the humble request
Of Donna Thelma da Costa Lourenço, our generous donor.
Higher Education of Goan girls was her fervent desire,
That saw its fulfilment in Carmel College for Women.
‘Satyam Eva Mukti Danam’ is the motto of Carmel
Truth at all cost and circumstance we wish to uphold
When the winds of life are stormy and dreary
And we strive to keep the flame of Carmel burning
May Mary Mother and Queen Beauty of Carmel
Always protect us under her loving maternal mantle.
