ICCR | Taking Bihar’s rich cultural heritage from Pataliputra to the World

On 24 August 2026, Smt. K. Nandini Singla, DG, ICCR, and Shri Anjani Kumar, DG, Bihar Museum Society, Patna signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at ICCR Headquarters, New Delhi.
This strategic partnership will take Bihar’s civilisational, historical, and artistic legacy to the world through ICCR’s global network. The MoU focuses on joint international exhibitions, museum exchange programs, professional residencies, and digital outreach. Key collaborative areas include , , Kalam, regional art forms, and expanding international participation for the Bihar Biennale.

Today, at the Female Jail Premises of Central Jail, a beautiful mural depicting the traditional story of Bihula-Bishahari was inaugurated by Smt. Shalini, Jail Supt., on the auspicious occasion of Bihula festival on 19 August. The mural is the outcome of a Manjusha art conducted by ICCR, RO, , under the guidance of Guru Manoj Kumar Pandit (President Awardee) on 8 and 9 August. More than 20 women prisoners participated in the workshop and later brought this vibrant artwork to life, portraying the rich of Bhagalpur through the legendary tale of Bihula and Bishahari—a story deeply rooted in faith, devotion, resilience and the triumph of determination. The mural will remain as a lasting legacy of the jail, carrying forward the stories of its women inmates through the timeless tradition of Manjusha art.

आज #भागलपुर केंद्रीय कारा के महिला कारा परिसर में बिहुला-बिषहरी की पारंपरिक कथा को दर्शाते हुए एक सुंदर मंजूषा चित्र का उद्घाटन जेल अधीक्षक श्रीमती शालिनी द्वारा 19 अगस्त को बिहुला महोत्सव के शुभ अवसर पर किया गया। यह चित्र ICCR, क्षेत्रीय कार्यालय, #पटना द्वारा 8 एवं 9 अगस्त को गुरु मनोज कुमार पंडित (राष्ट्रपति पुरस्कार से सम्मानित) के मार्गदर्शन में आयोजित मंजूषा कला कार्यशाला का परिणाम है। इस कार्यशाला में 20 से अधिक महिला बंदियों ने उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लिया और बाद में अपनी रचनात्मक प्रतिभा से इस जीवंत कलाकृति को साकार किया। यह मंजूषा चित्र भागलपुर की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत को बिहुला और बिषहरी की उस प्रसिद्ध कथा के माध्यम से प्रस्तुत करता है, जो आस्था, भक्ति, संघर्ष, दृढ़ता और संकल्प की विजय की भावना से जुड़ी हुई है। यह चित्र जेल की एक स्थायी विरासत के रूप में बना रहेगा और महिला बंदियों की रचनात्मक अभिव्यक्ति एवं उनकी कहानियों को मंजूषा कला की कालजयी परंपरा के माध्यम से आगे बढ़ाएगा।

On the proud occasion of Independence Day, the Tricolour was hoisted by Smt. Swadha Rizvi, RD, ICCR, Patna, at the ICCR Patna office. The ceremony celebrated the spirit of freedom, unity and patriotism, while honouring the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and the rich cultural diversity of our nation.

स्वतंत्रता दिवस के अवसर पर पटना स्थित भारतीय सांस्कृतिक संबंध परिषद के कार्यालय में आईसीसीआर, पटना की क्षेत्रीय निदेशक श्रीमती स्वधा रिज़वी द्वारा तिरंगा ध्वज फहराया गया।इस गरिमामय समारोह में स्वतंत्रता, एकता और देशभक्ति की भावना का उत्सव मनाया गया। साथ ही, देश की आज़ादी के लिए अपना सर्वस्व न्योछावर करने वाले स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के बलिदानों को श्रद्धापूर्वक नमन किया गया तथा हमारे राष्ट्र की समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विविधता का सम्मान किया गया।
