25 मार्च 2026 को समस्तीपुर जिले के भगवानपुर देसुआ पंचायत में कृषि प्रक्षेत्र में जैव विविधता संरक्षण हेतु किसानों की एक कार्यशाला आयोजित की गई। यह कार्यक्रम भा.कृ.अनु.प. के केन्द्रीय उपोष्ण बागवानी संस्थान, काकोरी, लखनऊ के द्वारा बिहार राज्य जैव विविधता पर्षद द्वारा प्रायोजित बीजू एवं अन्य कम उपयोगित फलों की जैव विविधता संबंधी रिसर्च एवं प्रसार परियोजना के अंतर्गत संपन्न हुई। इस परियोजना के प्रधान अनुसंधानक डॉ. संजय कुमार सिंह ने कार्यशाला में उपस्थित किसानों को परियोजना के पहलुओं और इसके प्रतिफल से अपेक्षित किसानों के हित एवं लाभ की विस्तृत जानकारी देकर इससे जुड़ने के लिए प्रेरित किया। पर्षद के अध्यक्ष श्री भारत ज्योति और संयुक्त निदेशक श्री हेम कांत राय ने कार्यशाला में अपने संबोधन में जैव विविधता संरक्षण हेतु पंचायत की जैव विविधता प्रबन्धन के दायित्वों एवं कार्य के अवसर के बारे में चर्चा की।
भगवानपुर देसुआ प्रगतिशील किसानों का ग्राम पंचायत है। यहाँ के किसान श्री के.सी. सिंह ने बीजू आम के विशिष्ट किस्मों का संरक्षण किया है, जिन्हें इस शोध परियोजना में पहचान मिली है। कार्यशाला को जिले के दोनों कृषि विज्ञान केंद्रों के प्रभारी वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक ने भी संबोधित किया।
