CRC Patna, under the administrative control of NILD, Kolkata, actively participated in the **Capacity Enrichment Programme** organized by **SCERT, Bihar, Patna**, at SCERT, Mahendru, Patna, on **20th August 2026**. The programme brought together **51 DIET lecturers from different districts of Bihar**, making it a significant platform for strengthening the capacity of teacher educators on accessibility and inclusive education.
Officials from CRC Patna were deputed as resource persons and conducted **highly interactive, practice-oriented and impactful sessions** focusing on key areas of disability inclusion, particularly **Indian Sign Language (ISL), effective communication with Deaf persons, Braille, and Orientation & Mobility (O&M) for persons with visual impairment**.
The sessions on **Indian Sign Language** were facilitated by **Ms. Monika Singh, ISL Interpreter**, and **Mr. Rohit Chand, ISL Instructor (Deaf), CRC Patna**. The facilitators effectively combined essential technical concepts with live demonstrations, interactive exercises and hands-on ISL activities. Participants were encouraged to actively practice basic signs and communication strategies, enabling them to experience first-hand the importance of accessible communication in inclusive educational settings. The practical nature of the session generated considerable enthusiasm and participation among the DIET lecturers.
The session on **Braille and Orientation & Mobility** was conducted by **Mr. Lal Chandra, Guest Faculty, D.Ed. Spl. Edu. (VI), CRC Patna**. Through demonstrations and practical exposure, participants gained a better understanding of Braille as an accessible medium of learning and the importance of Orientation & Mobility skills in promoting **independence, confidence, safety and participation of persons with visual impairment**.
The programme went beyond theoretical orientation and provided participants with **meaningful experiential learning opportunities**.
