Bureau of Indian Standards, Patna Branch Office organized a two-day Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel of Steel and Allied Products Manufacturing Units on 29–30 December 2025 at the Conference Hall, Patna Branch Office. The programme witnessed participation of approximately 40 Quality Control Incharge (QCIs) and BIS officials.
Day 1 – 29 December 2025*
The programme commenced with registration, followed by the welcome address and briefing on programme objectives delivered by Prashant Tiwari, SPO, BIS Patna. Subsequently, Shri Himanshu Kumar, Deputy Director, BIS Patna presented an overview of BIS and its recent initiatives. The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Sudhanshu Suman, Deputy Director, BIS Patna, who covered: Understanding the requirements of Indian Standards for steel products, Discussion on Product Manuals and Scheme of Inspection and Testing (SIT), and Testing methods of relevant Indian Standards. The day concluded with an Open House session, during which participants interacted with the resource persons and clarified their queries.
Day 2 – 30 December 2025
The second day began with a session on features of Manak Online and the BIS Care App. This was followed by sessions conducted by Shri Sudhanshu Suman, Deputy Director, BIS Patna on: Failure analysis of various steel products, and New guidelines for dealing with non-conformity and unsatisfactory performance, including inclusion, renewal, and grant of license. In the post-lunch session, participants were taken on a visit to the Patna Branch Laboratory conducted by Abid Hussain Joint Director BIS Patna Lab , where they were familiarized with testing facilities and procedures.
Valedictory Session
The programme concluded with a valedictory session addressed by Shri Chandrakesh Singh, Director & Head, Patna Branch Office, who emphasized the importance of such Capsule Course programmes for effective implementation of standards and strengthening quality assurance practices. Shri Vijay Kumar Gauraw, Joint Director, also participated in the certificate distribution programme.
The capsule course proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing the knowledge and practical understanding of Indian Standards among quality control personnel of steel and allied product manufacturing units.
