Minority Department of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Lodges Complaint Against Derogatory Remarks on Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)
Under the guidance of Chairman Wasim Khan, the Minority Department of the Goa Congress has continued its campaign against the alleged derogatory remarks made by Ms. Nazia Ilahi Khan against Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Today, a formal complaint was submitted at Verna Police Station by Nazir Sabhal, Vice Chairman, South Goa District Minority Department. He was accompanied by Mainuddin Khan (Vice Chairman, GPCC Minority Department), Anwar G Naroo (South Goa District Chairman, Minority Department), and other members of the Minority Department.
The Minority Department strongly condemns every attempt to insult any religion or hurt the religious sentiments of any community. Such statements have no place in a peaceful and democratic society and have the potential to disturb communal harmony.
The complaint requests the concerned authorities to conduct a fair and thorough investigation and take appropriate legal action in accordance with the law. The Department believes that no individual should be permitted to make statements that promote hatred or create social discord.
The Minority Department also wishes to make it clear that it will continue to pursue all lawful and democratic remedies available until appropriate action is taken in this matter. If necessary, further complaints and legal representations will be submitted before the competent authorities.
The Department appeals to all citizens to uphold mutual respect, maintain communal harmony, and exercise responsibility while expressing their views.
