I, the Chairman of the Shaheed Major Rohit Memorial Organisation, would like to say that Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, Member of Parliament from Srinagar, is a great personality and one of the prominent political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir.

He has always remained committed to serving the people. His family has a long tradition of public service, and he has consistently worked for the welfare of the poor, the oppressed, and the common people.

For a person like him, it is very difficult to solve the problems of the people while facing the challenges and limitations of a government that may not always be responsive to the needs and concerns of the public.

I, the Chairman of the Shaheed Major Rohit Memorial Organisation, Mandi, Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir (UT), believe that the Omar Abdullah Government has failed to address many of the important issues and concerns of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the election campaign and in its manifesto, several promises were made to the people. These included increasing the old-age pension to ₹5,000, addressing the problems of SPOs, daily-wage workers, Rahbar-e-Khel employees and other struggling sections, providing 12 free LPG gas cylinders, free ration, and 200 units of free electricity. However, in my view, the government has failed to fulfil these promises and to provide adequate relief to the people.

On the other hand, the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced several welfare schemes for poor and needy people. Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, eligible beneficiaries can receive health coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. The Central Government has also provided free food grains to eligible beneficiaries across the country and has increased financial support under various pension and welfare schemes.

Furthermore, major infrastructure and development work is being carried out in Jammu and Kashmir, including the expansion and improvement of national highways. Under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, thousands of people have received support, training and assistance to strengthen their skills and self-employment opportunities.

In my opinion, the National Conference Government in Jammu and Kashmir has been unable to effectively resolve many of the important problems faced by the people. The people deserve that the promises made to them should be fulfilled and that practical steps should be taken to address their genuine concerns.

I, the Chairman of Shaheed Major Rohit Memorial NGO, Budha Amarnath, Mandi, Poonch, Jammu & Kashmir, strongly condemn the increase in electricity tariffs by the Jammu & Kashmir Government. At a time when the people of Jammu & Kashmir are already facing severe inflation and financial difficulties, increasing electricity charges has placed an additional burden on the common man.

Daily-wage workers, labourers, poor families and ordinary citizens are already struggling to cope with rising prices of essential commodities. The decision to increase electricity tariffs at such a difficult time will further worsen their financial problems.

We strongly oppose this decision and appeal to the Jammu & Kashmir Government to reconsider the increase and provide relief to the common people. The government should stand with the poor and working-class people rather than adding to their hardships.

The Government of India has taken a wrong decision regarding the Agniveer scheme for the Indian Army. Earlier, soldiers recruited into the Indian Army could serve for 15–17 years before retiring with the benefits of a regular service career. A similar recruitment policy, along with a proper pension policy, should be implemented for the Indian Army.

The Indian Army serves the nation under extremely difficult conditions. Whether it is temperatures of minus 50°C, war-like situations, natural disasters, floods, or other emergencies, the Indian Army is always there to protect and serve the people.

We salute the Indian Army, which remains ready 24 hours a day for the security and sovereignty of our nation. Leaders sitting comfortably in air-conditioned rooms cannot fully understand the hardships and sacrifices of our soldiers, who protect the country in the most difficult circumstances.

Appeal for the Relocation of Residents Living Below the Hill

I, the Chairman of Shaheed Major Rohit Memorial Organisation, appeal to the Government of India and the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to take immediate notice of the people of Mandi who are living below the hill in a highly vulnerable area.

The residents are constantly facing danger due to the risk of landslides and falling stones. At any time, a major accident or loss of life may occur, especially during heavy rainfall and other adverse weather conditions.

Therefore, we earnestly appeal to the Government of India and the Jammu & Kashmir Government to conduct a proper assessment of the area and, in the interest of public safety, relocate these families to a safe and suitable place at the earliest.

The safety and lives of the people must be given the highest priority.
