*Janmashtami Celebrated with Religious Fervour and Devotion in Poonch* .
_DC, SSP Join Devotees at Geeta Bhavan and Shobha Yatra, Book on Sanatan Dharma Released_ .
*POONCH, SEPTEMBER 04* : Shri Krishna Janmashtami, commemorating the birth of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with great religious fervour, devotion and enthusiasm across Poonch district.
The main celebrations at Shree Geeta Bhavan, Poonch, were attended by Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Ashok Kumar Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Shafkat Hussain Bhat, Additional Superintendent of Police Ajay Sharma and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Muhammad Sayeed, along with senior district officials, prominent citizens, religious leaders and a large number of devotees.
Addressing the gathering at Geeta Bhavan, the Deputy Commissioner extended warm greetings to the people on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. He highlighted the life, teachings and ideals of Lord Shri Krishna and urged people to draw inspiration from his message of righteousness, duty and devotion.
The Senior Superintendent of Police also addressed the gathering and appreciated the peaceful, joyous and devotional atmosphere prevailing during the celebrations.
Religious leaders and prominent citizens also addressed the devotees and highlighted the historical and spiritual significance of Shri Krishna Janmashtami, urging everyone to follow the teachings and ideals of Lord Krishna in their daily lives.
On the auspicious occasion, a book highlighting the rich values, traditions and teachings of Sanatan Dharma was released by the Sanatan Dharam Sabha.
The District Administration also felicitated retired Labour Officer Shri Chander Parkash Khajuria in recognition of his valuable religious and social service. He was appreciated for his contributions towards the development of religious infrastructure, including the construction of a passenger shed and a temple room, besides donating a mortuary refrigerator to the Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Poonch.
A grand Shobha Yatra was also taken out from Shree Geeta Bhavan, featuring colourful tableaux and traditional performances depicting the rich cultural heritage and devotion associated with Lord Krishna.
The Deputy Commissioner, SSP and other officials also joined the procession, expressing solidarity with the devotees and the local community.
The celebrations commenced with a sacred Pooja, followed by Akhand Kirtan, during which devotional hymns reverberated throughout the temple premises, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.
The Shobha Yatra passed through the main streets of Poonch city and witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees.
Local residents lined the route and warmly welcomed the participants, offering refreshments and other services.
Thousands of devotees from different parts of the district and neighbouring areas participated in the celebrations, making the occasion a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for the entire community.
