Request to Respected Ullemas and Khateebs
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,
Respected Ullemas and Khateebs,
We humbly request you to dedicate about 10 minutes of this Friday's Khutbah to the vital topic of protecting our water bodies and preserving the environment.
Today, our rivers, streams, lakes, and springs are being polluted with waste and plastic. Many of us have become careless in keeping these precious blessings clean. If we continue this negligence, we risk facing severe environmental and public health disasters. Protecting water is not only a civic responsibility but also an Islamic duty.
Allah Almighty says in the Holy Qur'an:
«"And do not cause corruption on the earth after it has been set in order."
(Surah Al-A'raf 7:56)»
Allah also says:
«"Eat and drink, but do not waste. Indeed, He does not like the wasteful."
(Surah Al-A'raf 7:31)»
The Prophet ﷺ said:
«"Do not waste water, even if you are at a flowing river."
(Sunan Ibn Majah)»
He ﷺ also prohibited people from polluting sources of water and places used by others, teaching us that cleanliness and public welfare are acts of faith.
Our beloved Prophet ﷺ taught us that removing harmful things from pathways is an act of charity, and that "Cleanliness is half of faith." (Sahih Muslim)
Therefore, we respectfully request all Khateebs to remind the congregation that protecting rivers, streams, lakes, and all natural resources is part of our trust (Amanah) from Allah. Let us encourage every Muslim to avoid throwing garbage into water bodies, reduce pollution, and work together to preserve Allah's blessings for future generations.
May Allah grant us the ability to protect His creation and make us among those who spread goodness and prevent corruption on the earth.
Jazakum Allahu Khairan.
