Daund is a very important Railway Junction where train traffic from Mumbai going southwards to Banglore, Chennai, Hyderabad pass through Daund. Also Trains going North wards to Delhi, Jammu from Pune, Goa have to pass through Daund. The town is also just 9 km from the pune-vijaywada(pune-solapur) National Highway (NH 9). Pharma majors such as Cipla, Emcure, Dia Ichi already have a base here. Daund
is also access to one of the Ashtavinayak Ganpati, Siddhatek. Daund also holds 2 major Police reserve groups SRPF. The city is located between river Bhima, a tributary of the Krishna river and 3 mountains on its other side. The town has a significant population Railways related and SRPF employees.
