1. Footpath: Footpath work on South Avenue Road to be completed on priority
2. Kalyani Nagar–Yerwada road will start within the next 4 months.
3. Street Lights: Pending street-light issues to be addressed.
4. Trees: Tree cutting/related tree issues to be reviewed and necessary action taken.
5. Roads: Potholes to be repaired and road levelling to be undertaken.
6. Cleanliness: Regular cleaning and maintenance of the area to be ensured.
7. No Parking Zone: Necessary action to implement and maintain a No Parking Zone in the concerned area.
8. Chai Tapris: Unauthorised/obstructive chai tapris to be reviewed and removed as per applicable rules.
9. Follow-up Inspection: MLA Bapu Pathare and team will conduct a follow-up inspection next week to review the progress.

TSKN Engagement with Police Leadership – Yerwada Police Station

This evening, the TSKN team met with the Police Leadership Team at Yerwada Police Station to take up a range of concerns raised by Residents of Kalyani Nagar.

Resident grievances were presented in detail, including issues relating to traffic management, law enforcement, public safety and other matters affecting the community.

The Police Leadership gave us an assurance that each matter raised would be examined and that appropriate feedback would be shared.

We welcome this constructive engagement and look forward to continued coordination with the Police authorities towards addressing issues that impact the safety, security and quality of life of our Residents.

TSKN therefore encourages all Participants to continue reporting matters relating to law enforcement, traffic management and public safety on our groups.

Please share specific incidents, locations and relevant details wherever possible. This will enable TSKN to consolidate genuine Resident concerns and take them up systematically with the appropriate authorities.

Guidance Notes for Tree Guardians
Thank you for participating in the Adopt a Tree Initiative. Your commitment to nurturing a sapling over the next three years will help create a greener and healthier Kalyani Nagar for future generations.
Distribution
● Saplings will be distributed between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon only.
One Sapling Per Participant
● To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, only one sapling will be issued per participant.
Registration
● Before collecting your sapling, please enter your name and contact details in the registration register at the RRC.
Tree Species
● The saplings being distributed are native shade trees that are well suited to Pune’s climate and help improve biodiversity.
● Species include Karanj, Bakul, and Putranjiva (Putravati), all of which provide valuable shade, enhance the local environment, and support urban greenery.
Planting Guidelines
● Plant the sapling in a pit approximately 3 feet deep.
● Protect the sapling with a sturdy tree guard to prevent damage from animals, vehicles, or accidental impact.
● Maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from existing trees or other newly planted saplings to allow healthy growth.
Choosing the Right Location
● Select a planting site that is within easy reach of your home or workplace, enabling you to monitor its health regularly.
● During the dry months, ensure the sapling receives adequate watering and basic care until it is well established.
Remember: The true success of this initiative will not be measured by the number of saplings planted, but by the number that survive, flourish, and grow into healthy trees. Thank you for becoming a Tree Guardian and helping create a greener Kalyani Nagar.

Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar (TSKN) members and KN residents actively organise and participate in the various activities like maintenance of cleanliness in the surroundings, traffic awareness, singing Bollywood songs with lyrics changed in such a way to create awareness about local civic and traffic issues with a Scrap band using instruments made from scrap, setting up and managing the Resources Recycling Centre (RRC) at PMC sports ground on Central Avenue open on every Saturday from 10am to 12 noon for collection and recycling of dry resources in KN, etc. In this way, TSKN has successfully shown the path towards a clean and green neighbourhood.

Inspired by PM Narendra Modi's initiative of Swach Bharat Abhiyan in 2014 a Whatsapp group called Swachh Kalyani Nagar was started wherein residents started finding solutions to their daily issues instead of complaining about them. Residents actually came on the streets to clean their area and along with the help and support of PMC's SWM department, ward office and safai karmacharis each and every lane became clean and green. Residents started developing affection for their environment and took active interest in improving their environment.

Residents were motivated to join the TSKN Scrap band called "Band Bajaa De". They were happy to wear their Swachh Bharat Active Citizen badges and participate in all TSKN activities.

Open chronic dumping spots were eliminated with the "Chai pe charcha" campaigns by TSKN with the support of PMC and active residents involvement. TSKN helped in removal of debris thus getting a clean and rightful playground for the students of Nagarvala school. A unique and compact document "Volunteer guide" featuring simple and easy to understand guidelines for interested volunteers was made.

After receiving Swatch Bharat awards twice in a row, this citizen volunteer group was formally registered in 2021 as Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar TSKN. TSKN is led by Mrs. Rachna Aggarwal the Chairperson, Mr. Drayson Dixon Vice chairman, Mr. Firdosh Roowala treasurer and Mr. Jaffar Iqbal Secretary of TSKN along with 13 trustees and more than 180 residents life members of TSKN. Along with tackling sanitation and hygiene issues TSKN also is actively working towards traffic management, encroachment free footpaths, and environment protection and preservation.

# Pune Municipal Commissioners Team to Lead Civic upgrade of Kalyani Nagar.

**Pune, 4 July 2026:** In a collaborative effort to restore the civic beauty, safety and liveability of Kalyani Nagar, the Pune Municipal Commissioner’s Senior Management Team, today undertook a comprehensive site assessment across the neighbourhood, following an invitation from **The Synergy Kalyani Nagar (TSKN)**.

The civic tour brought together PMC officials and active residents to jointly assess long-pending civic issues on the ground, discuss practical solutions, and establish clear action points for their resolution along with associated time lines .

Kalyani Nagar residents have consistently contributed towards improving their neighbourhood through initiatives such as waste management, traffic awareness, tree plantation and public space improvement. However, several civic issues requiring coordinated intervention from the municipal administration continue to affect the quality of life in the area.

During the visit, the Team reviewed concerns across seven major focus areas.

* **Roads and Potholes:** Damaged roads, potholes, sunken chamber covers, broken concrete stretches and unfinished road restoration work following utility excavations.
* **Cleanliness and Waste Management:** Inadequate street sweeping, accumulation of roadside debris, gaps in dry waste collection, and improved management of garden waste.
* **Encroachments and Hawker Management:** Encroachments along public frontages, temporary structures, and the need to reclaim public amenity spaces.
* **Water Supply and Drainage:** Water pipeline leakages and chronic waterlogging at several junctions during the monsoon.
* **Footpaths and Pedestrian Safety:** Broken footpaths, damaged bollards, missing railings, and faded pedestrian crossings affecting the safety of walkers, senior citizens and children.
* **Beautification and Sustainability:** Opportunities for avenue tree plantation using native species, beautification of metro medians, and strengthening collaborative sustainability initiatives between PMC and residents.
* **Traffic and Signage:** Missing or inadequate traffic signage, particularly "No Parking" signs, requiring systematic planning and installation.
