The Indian Grape Processing Board, a Board setup under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India is headquartered at Pune, Maharashtra which is close to the principle grape growing/ processing areas in the country. The Board through its various activities would focus on research and development, extension, quality standardization, market research, knowledge management and dom

estic and international promotion of wines of India. It would collaborate and advise the wine grape growers, wine processing industry, Central and State Governments on commercial, regulatory and technical issues relating to Indian wine sector. The expected outcome will be to increase awareness and capacity building among farmers, processors and other stakeholders resulting in increased productivity, reduced wastage and improved quality wine conforming to global standards. The Board, initially facilitated by the Government and managed/ driven by the industry, is expected to boost growth of the sector, benefiting both the producers and the processors. The Board has 15 members including the Chairman, who is a professional from the wine industry and the other members are drawn from amongst wine processors, wine grape growers, Central Government, State Governments, training/ research institutes and the hospitality industry
