Centre for Disaster Management, YASHADA – Short Training Programme
Today 25 th August 2026 the Centre for Disaster Management (CDM), YASHADA, Pune
conducted a short training programme for the 5th Semester students of MIT ADT
University.
As part of their academic curriculum, the students are working on a project focused on
“Concept of Disaster Management and Mobile Disaster Response Support Units.” The
programme aimed to help students understand the practical dimensions of disaster response
and enable them to develop informed, practical, and human-centred design solutions
for their academic project.
During the programme:
The students also had an interactive session with Shri. Sachin Kalantre, (IAS)
DDG, YASHADA, which provided valuable guidance and a broader institutional
perspective on disaster management and capacity building.
Shri. Yogesh Lonkar, Project Specialist, MDC, YASHADA, delivered a session on
the Concept of Disaster Management, emerging trends, and future opportunities
for students in the Disaster Management sector.
Shri. Vitthal Banote, District Disaster Management Officer (DDMO), Pune,
provided insights into district-level disaster management operations,
coordination mechanisms, emergency response systems, and operational
challenges.
The interaction provided students with a valuable opportunity to connect academic learning
with practical disaster management experience and explore the growing professional
opportunities in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction and Disaster Management.
The programme was conceptualised, coordinated, and designed by Shri Suryakant
Mahadik, Facilitator, CDM, YASHADA, with the support of the Centre for Disaster
Management team.
