Director, IIM Raipur, as the Chief Guest, Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur, as the Chief Patron, Prof.
Rajkumar Buyya, Redmond Barry Distinguished Professor, The University of Melbourne, Australia, and Dr. Titash Mondal, SPARC Member, IIT Kharagpur, as Guests of Honour. The programme was chaired by Prof.
Sudhakar Pandey, Head, Department of Information Technology, NIT Raipur, while this SPARC collaborative workshop is coordinated by Dr. Chandrashekar Jatoth (NIT Raipur), Prof. Gautam Das(IIT Kharagpur), and Prof.
Somya K. Ghosh (IIT Kharagpur), in collaboration with The University of Melbourne and Curtin University, Australia.
The workshop has brought together over 70 faculty members, researchers, and students from leading institutions across India for expert lectures and hands-on sessions on Quantum Computing, Quantum Communication, Al for Network Optimization, Quantum Cryptography, and other emerging areas of Quantum Intelligence.

NIT Raipur’s Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (DHSS) successfully organized a workshop on “Mental Health and Human Values” from 8th June to 19th June 2026, culminating in a valedictory ceremony graced by Dr. Manoj Chopkar, Dean (Student Welfare), as the Chief Guest and Dr. Samir Bajpai, HoD, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, as the Guest of Honor. Coordinated by Dr. Heena Chawda, Psychological Counsellor, DHSS, the workshop focused on promoting self-awareness, emotional well-being, positive thinking, and value-based living. The programme concluded with participant feedback, certificate distribution, and a group photograph, marking the successful completion of the workshop.

NIT Raipur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Mineral Research Industrial Consultancy Society (GMRICS), a research and consultancy organization under the Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC), on 10 June 2026. The MoU was signed by Prof. N. V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur, and Dr. D. K. Sinha, Chief Executive Officer, GMRICS/GMDC, Ahmedabad, in the presence of Mr. A. K. Makadia, Sr. GM (Tech), Mr. S. D. Dav, GM (HR), and faculty members, to establish a long-term partnership in geology, mining, mineral exploration, critical minerals research, education, training, and skill development.

The agreement aims to strengthen academia–industry collaboration through joint research, industrial training, internships, field-based studies, faculty exchange, and skill development programmes. It will focus on areas such as Earth Sciences, mineral exploration, mining engineering, mineral beneficiation, analytical chemistry, management, and critical minerals research, while providing opportunities for students, researchers, and faculty members to access advanced research facilities and industry exposure.

NIT Raipur's Department of Information Technology, under the Continuing Education Cell (CEC), successfully concluded the 15-day(May25-June8) online certification course “Applied Data Analytics: A Practical Approach” on June 8, 2026. The valedictory ceremony was graced by Dr. Subhashish Sanyal, Dean (CR & RM), as Chief Guest, in the presence of Dr. Shubhojit Ghosh, Chairman, Continuing Education Cell, and Dr. Sudhakar Pandey, Professor & Head, Department of Information Technology. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Mridu Sahu and Dr. Govind P. Gupta. A total of 121 participants from institutions across the country took part in the course.

The programme highlighted the growing significance of data analytics and the successful completion of real-time projects by participants. The event concluded with a feedback session and a vote of thanks, marking the successful completion of the fifth edition of the certification course.

NIT Raipur inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for seven major infrastructure facilities on campus on 29th May 2026. The ceremonies were presided over by the Chairman, Board of Governors, NIT Raipur, Dr. Suresh Haware, and graced by the Director, NIT Raipur, Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao, in the presence of Deans, HoDs, faculty members, officals, staff, alumni, invited dignitaries and students. The facilities inaugurated were: NITRRFIE Incubation centre, Public EV Charging Station, Academic Annex-I Building, and Indian Knowledge System (IKS) Library section at Central Library, NIT Raipur, along with the Foundation stone laying of the High-Voltage Impulse Testing Laboratory, Platinum Guest House, and Makerspace & Research Facility Block.

Among the key highlights, the NIT Raipur FIE Incubation Centre is the first DST-NIDHI Technology Business Incubator in Chhattisgarh, currently supporting over 50 startups, while the High-Voltage Impulse Testing Laboratory and Makerspace and Research Facility Block are expected to significantly strengthen advanced research, innovation, and industry collaboration. The newly inaugurated IKS Library section will promote access to India’s intellectual heritage, while the EV Charging Station, Academic Annex-I Block, and Platinum Guest House will further enhance the institute’s sustainability, academic, and hospitality infrastructure respectively.

NIT Raipur, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), successfully organized a prestigious Technology Day Celebration on 28th May 2026 on the theme “SMR: Small Modular Reactor – Concept to Realization.” The inaugural session was graced by distinguished guests including Chief Guest Shri K. N. Vyas (Homi Bhabha Chair Professor and Former Chairman of AEC), Dr. Suresh Haware Chairman, Board of Governors, NIT Raipur Prof. N. V. Ramana Rao Director, NIT Raipur, Shri S. K. Sharma Former CMD, NPCIL, Mumbai, Shri Rajesh Kumar Shukla, MD, CSPTCL, Shri Hemant Verma, Chairman, Tripura electricity regulatory Commission,Prof. Avinash Chandra Pandey,Director, Inter University Accelerator, Shri Bajrang Goel Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Chhattisgarh State Council, Shri Ajai Kumar Singh, Member, C.G. NIT Raipur's Department of Information Technology, under the Continuing Education Cell (CEC), inaugurated the 15-day online certificate course "Applied Data Analytics: A Practical Approach" on May 25, 2026, aimed at equipping participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to modern data analytics techniques. The inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur. Distinguished guests present on the occasion included Dr. Subhojit Ghosh, Chairman, Continuing Education Cell, and Dr. Sanjay Kumar, HoD(l/c), Department of Information Technology. The program was jointly coordinated by Dr. Govind P. Gupta and Dr. Mridu Sahu from the Department of Information Technology.
The course is designed to provide participants with hands-on learning in key areas such as data preprocessing, predictive analysis, machine learning, and data visualization, enabling them to build practical skills and gain exposure to modern tools and techniques used in the field of data science and analytics.

NIT Raipur organized a one-day seminar on “Global Collaboration and Academic Exchange” on May 25, 2026, with enthusiastic participation from faculty members. The seminar was graced by Dr. N. V. Ramana Rao, Director, NIT Raipur, Dr. Akira Yamanaka from Ehime University,Japan, Dr. C. Krishna Mohan, Professor (HAG), Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Hyderabad, and Dr. D. V. L. N. Somayajulu, Director, NIT Manipur.

The seminar focused on the role of Artificial Intelligence in transforming tacit knowledge into objective models, the importance of international collaborations and academic exchange programs, and the growing opportunities for global partnerships in research, innovation, and student–faculty exchange between Indian and international institutions.

NIT Raipur’s Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Silicon Patterns, Hyderabad on April 24, 2026, to strengthen industry–academia interaction in semiconductor and VLSI design and develop industry-ready talent through hands-on learning, real-world exposure, access to government-supported EDA tools, and skill-based training.
