World Youth Skills Day Celebration

The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Rajnandgaon, under the administrative control of NIEPID, Secunderabad, celebrated World Youth Skills Day on 15 July 2026 with great enthusiasm under the guidance of Smt. Smita Mahobia, Director. The celebration was conducted in two sessions to promote skill development, rehabilitation, inclusion, and youth empowerment.

In the first half of the programme, CRC Rajnandgaon, in collaboration with CIIMHANS, conducted an awareness programme at the CIIMHANS premises. During the programme, Smt. Smita Mahobia, Director, sensitized the CIIMHANS staff and beneficiaries about the various rehabilitation services, assistive technology, and skill development initiatives being implemented by CRC Rajnandgaon for persons with disabilities. M.Phil. students of CIIMHANS presented a short act on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, highlighting the importance of youth empowerment, inclusion, and social participation. Following the programme, the CIIMHANS team provided Smt. Smita Mahobia and Mrs. Chunmun Mohanty with a guided tour of the CIIMHANS OPD and other facilities, showcasing the rehabilitation and mental health services available at the institute.

In the second half of the programme, the celebrations continued at CRC Rajnandgaon, where the Vocational Department organized an exhibition stall showcasing the creative skills and vocational achievements of trainees with disabilities. The exhibition displayed a variety of handmade products, including food items, bamboo art, canvas paintings, quilling paper art, painted pots, and other craft items, reflecting the creativity, talent, and entrepreneurial potential of the trainees. The programme was graced by Shri Madhusudan Yadav, Mayor of Rajnandgaon, the President of Lions Club, and other distinguished guests, who visited the exhibition stalls, appreciated the trainees' work, and encouraged them to continue developing their skills. A Plantation Drive was also organized to promote environmental sustainability and awareness about nature conservation. On the occasion, the PMDK Department distributed assistive aids and appliances to 30 beneficiaries, enhancing their mobility, independence, and quality of life.

The celebration concluded successfully under the visionary leadership of Smt. Smita Mahobia, Director, CRC Rajnandgaon. The programmes effectively highlighted the importance of vocational skills, rehabilitation services, inclusion, youth empowerment, environmental responsibility, and collaborative efforts towards building an inclusive society for persons with disabilities.

*Awareness Camp on Rehabilitation Services, Academic Programmes and Government Schemes for Persons with Disabilities*

Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Rajnandgaon, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, in collaboration with Shri Inderjeet Singh, President, Sarv Samaj Kalyan Samiti, Bhilai, successfully organized an Awareness Camp at Kohka, Bhilai on 5th July, 2026 with the objective of creating awareness regarding disability rehabilitation services, early intervention, academic programmes, and various Government of India schemes for persons with disabilities.

The officials of CRC Rajnandgaon were warmly welcomed by the members of Sarv Samaj Kalyan Samiti, whose wholehearted support contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the programme.

During the awareness session, the officials of CRC Rajnandgaon provided detailed information about the comprehensive rehabilitation services available at the Centre, including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Vision Therapy, Speech and Hearing Services, Special Education, Clinical Psychology, Early Intervention Services, and other multidisciplinary rehabilitation facilities. The participants were sensitized about the importance of early identification and early intervention for children with developmental delays and disabilities. Parents were informed that timely diagnosis and intervention can substantially improve a child's developmental outcomes and quality of life.

The participants were also informed about the academic programmes offered by CRC Rajnandgaon, namely Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation (DISLI) and Diploma in Education (Special Education – Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) [D.Ed. (IDD)]. The officials explained the eligibility criteria, course structure, and the growing employment opportunities available in the rehabilitation and special education sector.

A dedicated session was conducted on the various Government of India welfare schemes for persons with disabilities, particularly those related to the distribution of assistive aids and appliances. The gathering was advised to keep essential documents, including disability certificates, UDID cards, Aadhaar cards, income certificates, and other relevant records updated to enable them to avail themselves of benefits under various Government schemes without difficulty.

An interactive question-and-answer session was conducted at the end of the programme, during which the officials of CRC Rajnandgaon addressed individual queries from participants and provided detailed guidance based on their specific concerns. The session received an encouraging response from the public and helped clarify several doubts regarding disability assessment, rehabilitation services, educational opportunities, and Government benefits.

The programme concluded with dissemination of complete information about CRC Rajnandgaon, including the Centre's address, contact details, available services, admission process, and guidance on how to reach the Centre using public transportation, enabling participants to access the facilities with ease whenever required.

The awareness camp witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 200 members of the public, including parents, caregivers, youth, and community members from the surrounding areas. The large turnout reflected the growing awareness and interest of the community towards disability rehabilitation services, early intervention, educational opportunities, and Government welfare schemes for persons with disabilities
