Tantloi (Hot water spring)
The natural health spa in the Ramgarh block of Dumka is about 35 kms from the district headquarters on the banks of river Bhurbhuri, near Barapalasi. The site has five geo thermal springs, emanating clear warm water from within the eart, which is ideal for bathing particularly in winter. The water is rich in sulphur content, which helps in healing a number of skin diseases.
The flow of the water has been tapped by an artificial reservoir to facilitate the tourists in bathing. There is a surge of Bathers on the eve of Makar Sankranti. Meanwhile the cluster of hot springs of Tantloi is an interesting subject for Geophysicists across the world. It belongs to the Chotanagpur Gneissic Complex, in the eastern part of the country, falling under the Bakreshwar Geothermal area. It is also a part of the National Helium Conservation programme, which involves the regular monitoring of the presence of helium in its waters and the establishment of infrastructure for gas collection, by the Department of Science & Technology.
It is also famous for its natural beauty. It is basically a hilly area and we can see hills horizon lines from here.
