Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi conducted a 3-day programme on “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation” from 17th to 19th August 2026, aimed at enhancing digital capabilities and promoting the adoption of emerging technologies in the coal industry.

The programme brought together faculties from Coal India and external experts, offering participants a blend of industry insights and practical learning.

🔹 Coal India faculties highlighted the reforms and digital transformation initiatives undertaken across various areas, including Mine Planning, Diversification, Fleet Management and other operational domains.

🔹 External faculties provided practical insights into Artificial Intelligence, emerging AI tools and their applications for improving efficiency and productivity.

🔹 Participants also gained hands-on experience in using various AI tools to create dashboards, reports and other productivity-enhancing solutions, enabling them to explore practical applications of AI in their day-to-day work.

The programme provided a valuable platform for learning, experimentation and innovation, reinforcing the importance of digital transformation and AI in building a more efficient, agile and future-ready coal industry.

🌿✨ “सत्यनिष्ठा के स्वर” — सत्यनिष्ठा से समृद्धि ✨🌿

The second half of the day-long programme at IICM, Ranchi, organised under the Three-Month Preventive Vigilance Campaign 2026, concluded with a memorable poetry evening “सत्यनिष्ठा के स्वर”.

The evening was graced by the presence of Shri B. K. Tripathy, Chief Vigilance Officer, Coal India Limited; Shri Rajeev Kumar Verma, Former Director & Consultant, Central Vigilance Commission; Dr. Rahul Awasthi; Shri Ajay Kumar, Director (Technical), CMPDI; Shri Nripendra Nath, Director (Technical), CMPDI; and Shri O. P. Mishra, Executive Director, IICM, along with distinguished guests, poets and members of the IICM family.

The Three-Month Preventive Vigilance Campaign 2026, being undertaken as a precursor to Vigilance Awareness Week 2026, commenced at Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi under the theme:

“Probity for Prosperity” | “सत्यनिष्ठा से समृद्धि”

The first half of the programme brought together a series of meaningful initiatives centred around integrity, vigilance, ethics and responsible conduct.

🌱 “एक पेड़ माँ के नाम, एक पेड़ सतर्कता के नाम” — the plantation drive beautifully connected our responsibility towards the environment with our commitment to vigilance and integrity.

🚶‍♂️ Walkathon — carrying the message of Probity for Prosperity and spreading awareness about the importance of ethical conduct and integrity.

🤝 Integrity Pledge & Integrity Commitment — reaffirming our collective resolve to uphold honesty, transparency, accountability and probity in our professional conduct.

🎙️ The programme was enriched by insightful sessions from Shri B. K. Tripathy, Chief Vigilance Officer, Coal India Limited, Shri Rajiv Verma, Former Director & Consultant, Central Vigilance Commission, and Dr. Rahul Awasthi, renowned poet and motivational speaker, who shared valuable perspectives on integrity, ethics, vigilance and the importance of making principled choices.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior officials, CIL Vigilance Division, IICM officers and employees, and Management Trainees, reflecting a shared commitment towards nurturing a culture of integrity, accountability and trust.

Vigilance is not merely about identifying what is wrong; it is about strengthening a culture where doing what is right becomes the natural choice.

🇮🇳 𝟴𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗜𝗖𝗠, 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗶 🇮🇳

The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi, on 15 August 2026.

The celebrations commenced with the National Song, followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by the Executive Director, IICM, and the National Anthem.

In his Independence Day address, the Executive Director, IICM highlighted the significance of Independence, the contribution of Coal India towards the nation’s energy security and economic development, and the role of IICM in strengthening learning, capability development and leadership within the organisation.

Special emphasis was laid on the young generation, particularly Management Trainees, encouraging them to continuously learn, uphold strong values, embrace emerging technologies and prepare themselves for greater responsibilities and leadership in the years ahead.

The programme also showcased the talent and patriotic spirit of the IICM family, with soulful patriotic songs, speeches and poetry presented by family members and contractual staff.

The occasion also witnessed the felicitation of Best Employees from various AMC contracts, recognising their dedication and contribution towards the smooth functioning of the IICM campus.

The event was a celebration not only of our freedom, but also of our collective responsibility to contribute towards a stronger organisation and a stronger India.

The Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi, organized DISHA Programme for General Managers of CILfrom 27-29th July 2026. The programme was formally inaugurated by Shri Ajay Kumar, Director (Technical), CMPDI, who emphasized the importance of leadership transformation in the coal sector.

In his remarks, Shri Ajay Kumar highlighted the need for General Managers to evolve as strategic leaders capable of inspiring teams, influencing stakeholders, and harnessing emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence for sustainable growth.

The three‑day programme, designed in collaboration with the International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi, focuses on communication mastery, conflict navigation, AI‑enabled decision making, and team building. Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi recently hosted a ten-day residential “Functional Skill Development Programme (HR)” for 81 newly inducted Management Trainees (HR) of Coal India Limited from 13 to 23 July 2026, which was coordinated by Sri Allan R.A Lakra, Sr. Manager (HR), IICM.

Designed as a mandatory foundation programme, the FSDP-HR helped young HR professionals understand end to end HR operations across CIL and its subsidiaries, from manpower planning and recruitment support to performance management, employee relations and statutory compliances.

Through expert-led sessions on HR as a strategic business partner, compliances for Mines Act and rules, Apprenticeship Schemes (NATS, NAPS, PMIS) of Govt. of India, succession planning, Domestic Enquiry procedures, theoretical and hands-on training on SAP ERP HCM module, and understanding the various legal liaisons, participants gained practical, system-based skills to support people and productivity on the ground.

The programme reinforced IICM’s commitment to building a future-ready HR cadre for India’s coal sector, rooted in compliance, empathy and continuous learning.

The Indian Institute of Coal Management (IICM), Ranchi, had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Vinay Ranjan on the occasion of the meeting of the Board of Governors held at the Institute. During the visit, Smt. Renuka Verma also graced the occasion.

On the occasion of the completion of Dr. Vinay Ranjan's illustrious five-year tenure as Director (HR), Coal India Limited, IICM felicitated him in recognition of his visionary leadership, unwavering commitment, and outstanding contributions towards strengthening human resource development, organisational learning, leadership excellence, and capacity building across Coal India Limited.
