🏡 Ongoing SGAY Site Inspection – Khani Ward

Today, 07/08/2026, an ongoing site inspection of houses being constructed under the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY) was carried out in Khani Ward.

The inspection was conducted in the presence of the Junior Engineer (MTL Pvt. Ltd.), Junior Engineer(RDD), and the Ward Panchayat. The team reviewed the progress of construction, assessed the quality of work, and ensured that the implementation is being carried out in accordance with the approved guidelines and specifications.
Regular field inspections play an important role in ensuring transparency, maintaining quality standards, and facilitating the timely completion of houses for deserving beneficiaries.

🩸 Blood Donation Camp at BAC Duga 🩸
Today, 28th July 2026, a Blood Donation Camp was successfully organized at BAC Duga organized by the District Hospital Singtam Blood Bank in collaboration with West Pendam GPU, Central Pendam GPU, and BAC Duga.

The camp was conducted with the objective of promoting voluntary blood donation and ensuring the availability of safe blood for patients in need.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to every selfless blood donor whose priceless contribution will help save many precious lives. Your generosity and compassion are truly inspiring.

We sincerely appreciate the dedicated efforts of the technical team from the Blood Bank, District Hospital Singtam, the BDO Duga, the committed staff of BAC Duga, and all Gram Panchayat Kyodups (GPKs) for their excellent coordination and support throughout the programme.

We extend our deepest respect and gratitude to the AYUSH Wing Who conducted the pre-donation health screening and medical check-up of all voluntary blood donors, ensuring that every donor was medically fit and eligible to donate blood. Their dedicated service and professional care contributed significantly to the successful organization of the camp.

We would also like to extend our deepest respect and gratitude to the Hon'ble Panchayat President and all Hon'ble Panchayat Members of West Pendam GPU and Central Pendam GPU for their unwavering encouragement and active participation in making this noble initiative a grand success.

Today, 26/06/2026, the ongoing construction work under SGAY was inspected at Duga block , where the slab casting of the house of beneficiary Shri Mohan Kumar Pradhan(Duga), and Tara Dulal(Cheuribotay) was carried out.

The site visit was conducted in the presence of the BDO Sir, Duga Ward Panchayat, Junior Engineer (JE), and scheme-related officials. The inspection focused on ensuring quality construction, proper implementation, and timely progress of the work for the benefit of the beneficiary.

Together, we remain committed to the successful implementation of SGAY and to providing safe and durable housing for all eligible beneficiaries.

Characterisation of Single-Use Plastic and Hands-on Training

The programme on Characterisation of Single-Use Plastic for submission of Forms V-A and V-B, along with a hands-on training on the characterisation and segregation of single-use plastic, was successfully conducted at the newly constructed Plastic Waste Management Unit (PWMU), Bordang, for all three GPUs under Duga Block.

The hands-on training was facilitated by Mr. Rakash Bista, IMIS State Expert, in the gracious presence of the Hon’ble Panchayat President, Panchayat Members, AD (PRIs) of all three GPUs, BDO Duga, and all SBMG functionaries.

The training aimed to enhance the understanding and practical skills of stakeholders in the identification, characterisation, segregation, and reporting of single-use plastic waste, ensuring effective implementation of plastic waste management initiatives in the block.

On the theme of “Himalayan Clean up”, a cleanliness drive was successfully conducted today at Duga under the guidance of Zero Waste Duga. The programme was specially graced by Erik Ahlstrom, founder of PLOGGA.
The programme witnessed the active participation of students from Duga Secondary School, elected representatives from Central Pendam and West Pendam GPU, SBM-G functionaries of Gram Panchayats and Duga Block, along with the local public of Duga. Around 50 individuals enthusiastically took part in the Himalayan Clean-Up Programme.
During the programme, waste materials were collected, segregated according to brands and different categories, and measurements of the collected waste were also recorded for proper assessment and awareness purposes.
The programme concluded with an inspiring and motivational presentation delivered by Erik Ahlstrom on the concept of Plogga and its environmental themes, encouraging participants towards sustainable waste management and community cleanliness initiatives.
Lastly, the SBM-G Cell, Duga would like to convey sincere thanks and gratitude to Mr. Satya Pradhan, Mrs. Sangay (Zero Waste Volunteer), and Duga Ward Panchayat Shri Bhim Raj Pradhan for their hard work and dedicated efforts in making the event successful. (Swachh Bharat Mission Sikkim 🙏🏼)

Site visit of ongoing construction works under SGAY was conducted today at Bordang, 18 West Pendam Constituency, along with BDO Sir, JEs of both BAC and MTL Company, and Panchayat representatives. A total of 20 under-construction sites were visited and inspected to review the progress and quality of works being carried out. Continuous monitoring and coordination are being ensured for timely completion and effective implementation of the scheme for the benefit of the people.

An IEC (Information, Education and Communication) cm Sensitization Programme on Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026 was successfully conducted today at the Block Administrative Centre (BAC), Duga. The programme was organized for all elected representatives and office functionaries of the three Gram Panchayat Units (GPUs) under Duga Block, along with the Zilla Panchayat Members.
The programme was graced by the presence of the Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Member of 02-Central Pendam Territorial Constituency, the Hon’ble Panchayat President of 02-Central Pendam GPU, the respected ADC (Development), Pakyong, the Block Development Officer (BDO), Duga, the concerned Assistant Director (PRI), and other dignitaries from BAC Duga.
The main objective of the programme was to create awareness and enhance understanding regarding the provisions, responsibilities, and implementation strategies of the SWM Rules 2026. Emphasis was laid on effective solid waste management practices, segregation at source, scientific disposal methods, and the roles and responsibilities of Panchayati Raj Institutions in ensuring sustainable waste management.
During the session, Respected ADC Dev. Sir explain on the importance of community participation, behavioral change, and strict adherence to the guidelines under SWM Rules 2026. The participants were sensitized on the need for proper planning, monitoring, and ex*****on of waste management activities at the grassroots level.
The dignitaries highlighted the significance of coordinated efforts among elected representatives, officials, and the public to achieve cleanliness and environmental sustainability. They also encouraged all stakeholders to actively participate and take responsibility for maintaining proper waste management systems within their respective jurisdictions.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where participants shared their views, challenges, and suggestions for effective implementation of SWM Rules 2026.
Overall, the programme was informative and productive, strengthening the commitment of all stakeholders towards improved solid waste management practices in Duga Block.
