Building one business is hard. Building eight across five countries is a different discipline entirely.

My group spans:
- IT Consulting & Technology — Zambia, Botswana, India, Mauritius
- Pharmaceuticals Distribution — 20,000+ products, 4 countries
- Food Services & Hospitality — Zambia, India
- Construction Materials — Lusaka, Zambia
- Tours & Travel — Mauritius HQ, Zambia operations
- Technology Media — Dubai, UAE
- Political Consultancy — Delhi, India

Each company was born from a specific market need. Each required a different playbook. Each taught me something the previous one could not.

The common thread? Understanding local context before applying global models.

Over the next weeks, I will share specific lessons from building across these markets — the failures, the pivots, and the principles that held."
Which emerging market do you believe is most underestimated by global entrepreneurs? Tell me below.

The most powerful community infrastructure is not built with concrete.
It is built with habit.

The Har Gaon Shakha initiative in Haridwar, Uttarakhand is a structured community gathering program with one purpose: to bring every village together, once a day, for one hour.

The 60-minute structure is deliberate:
- 20 min: Yoga, pranayama, and physical wellness
-15 min: Traditional team activities (kabaddi, kho-kho)
-15 min: Guidance from village elders, folk stories, moral values, lived wisdom
-10 min: Collective prayer and national reflection

Why does this matter?

Because when a village sits together daily, caste divisions soften. When elders speak, cultural memory is preserved. When young people exercise together, health outcomes improve. When communities pray together, social trust strengthens.

This is not ideology. This is human psychology applied to community building.

60 minutes. Every day. Every village. That is the mission.

I have managed teams across Zambia, India, Mauritius, and Dubai.
Different cultures. Different expectations. Different leadership styles.

But the three principles that have served me most consistently are rooted in Indian philosophy - not any MBA textbook.

Seva - the concept of selfless service - reframes leadership from authority to contribution.

Dharma - doing what is right even when it costs you - builds institutional trust faster than any KPI system.

Sahishnutā - true patience - allows you to let strategy unfold rather than forcing outcomes that are not yet ready.

None of these require a guru. They require practice.

Comment the one leadership principle you operate by, regardless of where it came from.

Numbers tell stories that words sometimes cannot.

We began with a simple belief: that sustainable community development is not an event. It is a process, built one village, one family, one individual at a time.

Our programs focus on three core areas:
- Public health awareness and preventive care education
- Access to safe drinking water infrastructure in underserved villages
- Vocational and leadership training for youth who lack formal employment pathways

Thousands of individuals benefiting from health and education programs. Dozens of villages now equipped with sustainable water systems. Hundreds of young people trained in skills that translate directly to economic independence.

These are not just numbers. They represent families that eat better, children who study more, and young people who no longer need to wait for opportunity, because opportunity came to them.

This is the work. And we are just getting started.

Building a diversified group is not the same as building a conglomerate for the sake of scale.

Each company exists because there was a specific gap in a specific market — and because I had the domain knowledge or the right team to address it.

Enterprise IT consulting across Zambia, Botswana, India, Mauritius. Started because HPE-level IT support was almost entirely absent in Zambia in 2013.

Pharmaceutical distribution, 20,000+ products, 4 countries. Healthcare supply chain in Southern Africa is chronically underserved.

Premium restaurant chain in Zambia. Indian-Western dining in a market that lacked quality fusion hospitality.

Construction materials, Lusaka. Zambia's infrastructure growth created consistent demand for quality premix concrete.

Corporate tours and travel, Mauritius-based, Zambia-operated. Corporate travel where logistics expertise is scarce.

Technology media and insights, Dubai.

Political consultancy and digital campaigns, Delhi.

Each company is different. The discipline of running all of them is the same: clear ownership, strong local teams, and honest performance measurement.

Which sector surprised you most to see in this portfolio? Tell me why.

Every story has a beginning.

Mine started in the classrooms of GB Pant Engineering College, moved through the corridors of Wipro and Hewlett Packard, crossed continents to Zambia, and led me to build a group of companies spanning IT, pharmaceuticals, hospitality, construction, travel, and digital media across five countries.

For the past 12+ years, I have operated at the intersection of business and community, building enterprises that create economic value while running initiatives that serve people directly on the ground.

Through a social trust I co-founded, our work has touched thousands of individuals across health and education programs. Through a diaspora community network I have helped build, we have established over 10 active branches serving the Indian community abroad.

I am starting this LinkedIn journey to share what I have learned, about business, leadership, and the intersection of both.

If any of these themes resonate with you, I would love to connect.

Namaste! 🙏 I am Saurabh Saini. As a bridge between the fast-paced global corporate world and the grassroots level, I am committed to harnessing the potential of both realms to drive transformative change. Professionally, I serve as the MD and Partner of diverse businesses across India, the UAE, and Africa. However, driven by a deep sense of nationalism, I have returned to my roots to contribute to the growth and development of our motherland. Public service is an integral part of my heritage, and I proudly carry forward the legacy of my Nanaji, Late Dr. P.S. 'Viksit' Ji (Former Minister & MLA), and my parents—Hon. MP Dr. Kalpana Saini Ji and Dr. N.R. Saini Ji. Through my social initiative, SMMEST, we are working tirelessly in the rural areas of Haridwar to empower local communities. Our mission is clear: to bring critical services such as healthcare and education to rural doorsteps, educate our youth to become agents of change, and foster self-reliance. By combining global expertise with grassroots potential, we are building a stronger, more resilient India. Vande Mataram! 🇮🇳
