A heartfelt musical collaboration recently took shape in Shergaon, Arunachal Pradesh, when singer Nima Dorjee visited Taksar Lu Farms to meet his longtime friend NGawang Thungon, founder of the farm. What began as a simple gathering among friends slowly transformed into an intimate live recording session amidst the peaceful mountain landscapes of Shergaon.
Joined by musician Jim Ankan Deka and filmmaker Tse Ring La, the team decided to record a fresh acoustic unplugged rendition of the beloved Monpa song "Tashi Delek" outdoors, surrounded by the natural beauty of Taksar Lu Farms. Instead of relying on a studio environment, the session was kept raw and closely connected to nature, allowing the sounds of the mountains, birds, wind and open landscapes to become part of the music itself.
Set against the backdrop of pine forests, apple orchards, trout farms and the serene atmosphere of Shergaon, Arunachal Pradesh, the live session captures not only the music, but also the warmth of friendship, travel and cultural connection. Through this recording, the artists hope to present the beauty of Monpa folk music in an intimate and contemporary acoustic form while remaining deeply rooted in the spirit of the mountains where the song belongs.
The video was filmed and documented by Tse Ring La as part of the ongoing Shergaon Diaries series, which explores music, culture, landscapes and stories from the region through cinematic live sessions and visual storytelling.
