Since so much was being written about Sunita Williams chose not to flood TLs then

But these pics date back to September-October 2007, when she travelled to India and met President Smt Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Smt Sonia Gandhi

Her achievements were celebrated, events were organised where she received accolades and appreciation. And the following year in 2008 she was awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian award

In fact, on that visit, Mumbai Youth Congress awarded her the Rajiv Gandhi award too

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Govt back then headed by Mr Modi neither felicitated her in the state she originally hails from, nor did he organise any welcome for her - perhaps because of her familial ties to Haren Pandya

But now he chose to shoot off a letter even before the US President could speak to the astronauts!

Two lessons here - first, make your success roar so loud that people are forced to take note and cheer

Second, genuine honour is bestowed gracefully, without the surround sound of jingoism and a media frothing at its mouth!
