Arvind Kejriwal Calls PM Narendra Modi a 'Shameless Dictator'

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi "a shameless dictator" after the Income Tax Department sought derecognition of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for allegedly filing "false and fabricated" audit reports on donations.

Terming as "Modiji's dirty tricks" the I-T Department's move asking the Election Commission of India to cancel the AAP's status as a political party, Kejriwal said the government was doing it because the BJP was headed for a defeat at the hands of his party in the Punjab and Goa elections where voting takes place on Saturday.

"Losing badly in Goa n Punjab, he (PM Modi) tries to de-register the winning party 24 hours before elections. Shameless dictator," the AAP convenor tweeted.

According to some media reports, the I-T Department has submitted a report to the poll panel alleging that the AAP had filed "false and fabricated" audit reports in 2013-14 and 2014-15 and hence "the registration of the AAP as a trust and as a party could be revisited and cancelled".

Kejriwal also tweeted a link of the news article in a national daily about the I-T Department report to the election panel.

Arvind Kejriwal today mounted a stinging offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of voting in Punjab and Goa assembly polls, calling him a “shameless dictator” and alleged that he was trying to get Aam Aadmi Party deregistered. Questioning the timing of a reported move by the Income Tax department to recommend to the Election Commission to cancel Aam Aadmi Party’s political party status, the Delhi Chief Minister claimed that it is a “dirty trick” that the Prime Minister has used to avert the BJP’s drubbing in the two states, which go to polls tomorrow.

“Modiji’s dirty tricks. Losing badly in Goa n Punjab, he tries to de-register the winning party 24 hrs before elections. Shameless dictator (sic),” the AAP’s national convener said on twitter. The AAP is fancying its chances in Punjab, where it is faced with a triangular contest with Congress and incumbent SAD-BJP. In Goa too, the AAP is hopeful of disturbing the ruling BJP’s prospects.

According to media reports, the income tax department had yesterday asked the Electio
n Commission to cancel AAP’s status of a political party and a trust for allegedly filing “false and fabricated” audit reports on donations of more than Rs 27 crore.
