It is our immense pleasure that today our Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Bidyut Chakrabarty visited our Central library . Our Deputy Librarian, Dr. Nimai Chand Saha gave a brief introduction and highlighted about the resources and services rendered by the library. VC was also apprised of the future plans of the library. It is our pleasure and satisfaction that the VC was pleased with the activities of the library. He also offered some valuable advice and suggestions for further development of the library.

Central Library, Visva -Bharati observed the Librarian’s Day 2018 (12th August) on 11th August 2018 befittingly to commemorate the 126th birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, popularly known as “the Father of Library Science in India”. On this event former University Librarian Dr. Subodhgopal Nandi delivered a lecture on

It’s a great privilege that Central Library, Visva-Bharati in association with Patha Bhavana, Visva-Bharati and RTO, Birbhum organised an awareness programme on “Different Aspects of Road Transportation and Its Safety Measures” on 31.07.2018 to observe the Safe Drive, Save Life Campaign week from 23rd July to 31st July 2018, initiated by Govt. WB, to make people aware and understand the traffic rules to be obeyed strictly on road. It is a fact that there is a cultural and behavioural aspect to safe driving in addition to technical aspects. Road safety is probably one of the most pressing needs that India is grappling with at this moment. Under the programme, participants were given information regarding traffic rules.
Prof. Nirmalya Banerjee, Prof.-In-Charge, Central Library, VB, Sri Sandip Saha RTO, Birbhum, Sri Avro Adhikari, SDO, Bolpur, Prof. Sabujkoli Sen Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Visva-Bharati, Mr. Biswajit Chowdhury, S.I. and O.C. Traffic,Bolpur Sub-division, Birbhum, Smt. Bodhirupa Sinha Principal, Patha Bhavana,Visva-Bharati, Dr. Nimai Chand Saha, Deputy Librarian, VB were presented in the programme and share their personal experiences and and valuable inputs. It was also urged to inculcate the golden rules of road safety to every corners of the society and make safer India. Central library is happy to be associated with this noble initiative of Government of West Bengal in bringing about awareness regarding the road safety rules.

It's a pleasure that a group of school students from Sri Sarada Devi Balika Vidya Mandir Beliatore, Bankura visited our Central Library today. They were very eager to know about the library. We were pleased to see their interest and inquisitiveness. They were given an overview of the University Library System. They were shown different sections of the library. A Staff Development Programme was arranged in the Central Library on 10/07/2018. It was meant for apprising the staff members of the current developments in Library and Information services. A well informed library staff is one of the greatest assets in a library. The main purpose of staff development is to raise the core competencies and to develop creative solutions to issues that confront the library. The programme dealt with the technological components of service delivery , including Online user Registration, Discovery Services, Remote Access, Access to National Digital Library (NDL),Open Educational Resources(OERs), URKUND and real - time interactivity. The programme was successfully conducted with the participation and deliberations.

It is a great honour that Dr Sushanta Banerjee, Director, American Information and Resource Centre, American Embassy and Consulates in India, Kolkata has come over here to deliver a lecture on “Public Relation and University Library” which is very relevant in modern day. We thank Dr Banerjee for his lecture which is very thought provoking. Dr. Banerjee covered the entire gamut of public relations and the role of library which is very pertinent in today's society. We are all enriched with his illuminating speech. We are very thankful to Dr. Banerjee.

A discussion forum was arranged with the student members of VB Central Library and Library officials on 20/03/2018. The programme was intended to elicit information about the expectations of the users from the library and also to know from them the shortcomings or weakness of the library, if there be any.The programme came out to be very successful. The students unequivocally expressed deep
satisfaction with the Library resources and services. However some pertinent points like
Mobile based library services, subscription of regional language periodicals, etc came to the
fore. The library authority assured them that they would try their best to meet their demands at the earliest.
