From Struggle to Stability: Saritha Earns ₹4,000 –₹6,000 Per Day with HASSS Support

T. Saritha, a member of Karuna HASSS Mahila Sangam in Suraram Colony, faced constant financial strain while raising two children. Her husband, T. Innareddy, ran a small chicken shop with limited space, poor interiors, and very few chicks due to lack of capital. Daily earnings were uncertain, and meeting household and education expenses was a struggle. With hope for change, Saritha approached HASSS and received a loan of ₹1,00,000. The amount helped them upgrade the shop, improve the interiors, purchase more chicks, and arrange proper feed. The transformation was remarkable. The improved shop attracted more customers and increased sales. Today, the couple earns ₹4,000 to ₹6,000 per day, bringing stability, dignity, and renewed confidence to their family life.

Eeramma Now Earns ₹15,000 Per Month Through HASSS Support

S. Eeramma, a member of Pavitra Mahila Sangam in Suraram Colony, struggled to sustain her family through their small kirana shop, the only source of income. With two children studying in degree and intermediate, financial pressure was high. Due to limited capital, the shop carried minimal stock, leading to poor sales and low returns. Seeking support, Eeramma approached HASSS and received a loan of ₹50,000. She used the amount to expand the shop and stock a full range of groceries and household items. This timely support transformed their business. Increased variety attracted more customers, significantly boosting sales. Today, Eeramma earns around ₹15,000 per month after expenses, ensuring better education and stability for her family.

Strengthening SHGs through Agri-Allied Livelihoods and Collective Leadership at Arogya Nagar under the Project Manos Unidas- Empowering Rural Women by Training Them to Undertake Agri Allied Livelihoods (Project ID: IND 77227).

On 01 May 2026, a Self-Help Group (SHG) meeting was conducted at Arogya Nagar village in Kamareddy district by the Hyderabad Archdiocese Social Service Society (HASSS) in collaboration with Manos Unidas under Project IND 77227. The program was led by Rev. Fr. Madanu Anthony, Executive Director, and coordinated by animator Mr. Raju. A total of 70 women from 13 SHGs actively participated. The meeting focused on strengthening monthly savings, improving attendance, and enrolling new members. Discussions also highlighted income generation through agri-allied activities like poultry and goat rearing. A five-member committee was formed, with M. Vijaya elected as President, supported by four members. The session enhanced unity, leadership, and collective responsibility.

Climate Resilient Agriculture Sensitization Meeting Conducted at Laknapur Village

On 29 April 2026, HASSS organized a Climate Resilient Agriculture sensitization meeting at Laknapur village, supported by DKA Austria, to strengthen farmers’ awareness on climate change and sustainable farming. Farmers were sensitized on the harmful impacts of chemical farming such as soil fertility decline, water contamination, pollution, biodiversity loss, and health issues. Climate changes like irregular rainfall, delayed monsoons, heavy rains, and dry spells were discussed. Farmers were guided on mixed cropping, crop diversification, drought-tolerant varieties, mulching, compost use, timely sowing, and water conservation methods. Farmer Pentamma shared her observations. Demonstrations on compost preparation and eco-friendly pest control were conducted. A total of 46 farmers participated. The meeting improved farmers’ understanding and motivated them to adopt climate-resilient practices. The session was facilitated by Coordinator Santhi Nekkanti, along with field animators Prabhudas and Narender.
