On the occassion of upcoming Teachers' Day Hon'ble Chief Minister Maharashtra Shri Devendra Fadnavis ji felicitated Special Education Teachers for successful implementation of NIEPID DISHA Curriculum. He appreciated the efforts made by Dr B.V Ram Kumar, Director, NIEPID; Ms Archana Chandra, CEO, Jai Vakeel Foundation; Dr. Manik Gursal, Secretary, DEPwD Maharashtra and Shri Satyajit Bade, Commissioner for PwDs, Govt. of Maharashtra for successful implementation of the Curriculum and bringing quality education for Children with Intellectual Disabilities.

During his address he stressed of the need of collaborative efforts of all stakeholders for successful inclusion of Divyangjan to achieve sharing the Government's vision of Vikasit Bharat by 2047. He asked to
1. Felicitate all special education teachers implementing DISHA Curriculum in Maharashtra state at District level
2. Implement NIEPID DISHA Curriculum Inclusive Schools
3. Address issues related with implementation in fast track mode through Social Welfare War Room
4. Prepare training modules for regular and special teachers working in Inclusive schools

Visit of Hon’ble Member of Parliament to , Secunderabad

Shri Eatala Rajendar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Malkajgiri, visited NIEPID, Secunderabad on 3rd September 2026. He visited the various service units and departments of the Institute and interacted with parents, beneficiaries and faculty members. He appreciated the quality of services being provided by NIEPID and particularly acknowledged the visionary leadership of Dr. B. V. Ram Kumar, Director, NIEPID, and the dedicated efforts of the faculty members.

As part of the programme, Shri Eatala Rajender also visited NISHD and ALIMCO and participated in the distribution of aids and assistive appliances to beneficiaries. He assured the parents and beneficiaries of his continued support and expressed his willingness to facilitate all possible assistance through various available resources, including Government support and MPLADS funds, towards strengthening services and promoting the welfare, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities.

📢 TRAINING PROGRAMME ON NIEPID ADULTS ASSESSMENT TOOL FOR SPECIFIC LEARNING DISABILITIES (NAATS)

The National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), Secunderabad is organising a 2-Day Training Programme on the NIEPID Adults Assessment Tool for Specific Learning Disabilities (NAATS).

NAATS is an indigenous, standardised assessment tool developed in India for the identification, assessment and diagnosis of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) in adults. This hands-on programme will provide participants with practical training in the framework, administration, scoring and interpretation of NAATS, directly from the team involved in its development.

NIABS is an indigenous, standardized assessment tool developed in India for the assessment of adaptive behaviour across age groups and domains. The programme will provide hands-on orientation to the framework, administration, scoring and interpretation of NIABS, directly from the team involved in its development.

NIEPID – Grade Level Assessment Instrument for Schools (GLAIS)

A Comprehensive Tool for Identifying Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) Across School Years

NIEPID invites eligible Special Educators to participate in an intensive 5-Day Capacity Building Programme on NIEPID–GLAIS, an indigenous assessment instrument designed for the identification and diagnosis of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) across school years – from Balavatika to Class XII.

🔴 Important: Attendance in this intensive training programme is mandatory for Special Educators to become eligible to conduct assessment and diagnosis of SLD using NIEPID–GLAIS.

The Indian Journal of Rehabilitation Sciences (IJRS), published by the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID), invites researchers, academicians, clinicians, rehabilitation professionals, and scholars to submit original research articles, review papers, case studies, case reports, and short communications for Volume 1, Issue 2 (July–December 2026).

Contribute to advancing evidence-based practices and innovation in disability rehabilitation across multidisciplinary domains. All manuscripts will undergo plagiarism screening and peer review to ensure academic quality and originality.
